Gamec0cks5 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 How do I get the handle side off? I unscrewed the three screws on the side and unscrewed the spool tension knob but still can't get the cover off to get to the main gear? I can't find anything on Google about how to do it either My owner's manual doesn't provide a schematic either???? Any Experience? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 20, 2010 Super User Posted May 20, 2010 1. Shimano website has the schematic. 2. You need to remove part# 3931 before you can remove the crank side cover. 3. Send it to a pro. Quote
lightsout Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 http://www.tackletour.net/TTForums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=33976 This for the curado but there is little diffrence. Take your time and you will be fine. To be on the safe side I always have a digital camera and quickly take pics as I tear a reel apart for referance. Quote
Gamec0cks5 Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 ok well i got it back together but now the drag wheel doesn't click and the spool release is not as firm, it has a lot of play in it. Does anybody know who I can send it to? Preferably a member on here, it will take weeks for me to send it to Shimano. :'( :-[ Quote
Super User islandbass Posted May 20, 2010 Super User Posted May 20, 2010 Just break out your schematic and follow it to a T, paying special attention to the orientation of every piece. Even someone and mechanically inept could follow it, there is hope for you. ;D The schematic is readily available at Shimano's site for a free downloadable pdf. Quote

It's going the other way that gives so many people problems. They got to be right or you got big problems. If you can't find anyone close to you to fix it box it up and I will clean and put it back together for you. Just cover the freight. (Unless I have to purchase any missing parts) LOL. Jack Quote

Simp Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 ok thanks ! Honestly this is really simple to do and while it make take a few tries of putting it together and breaking it down again. I honestly have no doubt you can do it. Quote

Well, you can always send it either to DVT or to the Reel Mech. Better luck next time when you try to dissassemble your reel. BTW, the owner 's manual doesn 't have any schematics, there 's another leaflet in the box of your reel, the schematics leaflet, all reels come with it. Quote
