ChiCityBasser Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I don't know that weight is really a factor for me I can say that I have used some heavy reels in my time and fished all day with them and did not used to bother me but I would be willing to swap a little weight for durability.once I am on the water and concentrating on fishing not much else seems to matter at that point. Are they really that heavy? The older Quantum Energy PT that I have weighs in at 9.5oz and the new Energy PT is 7.8oz and no the weight isn't a problem for me at all either on the older model. The new Catalyst is also in the 7.8 oz range. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 17, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 17, 2010 basser have you ever fished with a shimano? just wondering what it is about Quantum you like so well cause after this weekend I fail to see the big argument and I have used other products before this weekend. Quote

Yes I have fished with Shimano but only the spinning reels. I have used both the Sahara which I currently have and a Saros at one time. They are great reels don't get me wrong but I just prefer Quantum. Of my baitcasting setups I've had a Daiwa Megaforce which I sold thru the board. I have a Cabelas Prodigy(Daiwa), a Accurist PT,a Quantum Energy PT and just added a Daiwa Exceler. They work well for me and no knock on any other product or brand. Quote
bassking1976 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 nitro good to see that the code worked out for u..im actually considering gettin a code combo from dicks just as soon as i get a couple more dollars together i too like all my quantum reels 3 spinning and an accurist baitcaster benn told many times how great other brands are but im a low budget basser and quantums perform great for the money like urself will step up in time but fairly new to baitcasting so im good for now Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 18, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 18, 2010 Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback and I too have tried other stuff and like it, But for me I think I will stay with Quantum and I know it's only one time out with this code but I will know for sure when I take a week long fishing trip next month. You can bet it's going to get a good work out!!! Quote
