Vinny Chase Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I am selling my Fenwick Eagle GT and looking for an upgrade in the $100-$150 range. I want something mainly for plastics that has a good backbone...What do you guys think? I did post this rod the other day but no one got back to me. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0080522125342a&navCount=0&podId=0080522&parentId=cat21428&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=cat21406_feat&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21428&hasJS=true Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 St. Croix Avid AVS68MXF if you can find it on sale. Otherwise, it's $180. 8-) Quote

Super User Sam Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 I would go with the highest rated graphite rod I could find as long as the line test and bait weights are within the paramaters of what I will be throwing. I guess the Shimano Cumara is out of the question at this time???? Quote
maineman Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I bought the St. croix AVID AVS70MF and the AVS68MXF this winter and i just love the mxf. Granted i have no experience with upper end rods. But this rod is just great with plastics, i can feel the fish inhale the bait and my hook ups have greatly improved with this rod. Quote

Ive really never fished a rod that isnt MH for plastics....does this have enough backbone? Quote
Fishohio Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I can't speak for the Avid, but I fish a Kistler Helium 6'9 MHF throwin worms & tubes and Love it. By far my favorite stick! Would definately give it a look if I were you Vinny! Quote
