garry77 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Anybody use any spray-on attractants? If so what kinds or flavors? What lures do you use them on?Thanks. Quote
Peter E. Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I have been known to. I like jacks juice in the garlic or crawfish for my jigs and soft plastics. I will also use the shad for my hair jigs and spinner baits. My thought on it is like this: If you give a dog a sponge he'll pick it up and drop it. If you soak that sponge in gravy, well you'll have to get another sponge. Peter Quote
Oregon Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Yea but if you throw the gravy soaked sponge in the water for a minute and then give it too him your in the same place you've started. IMO sprays and liquids a waste of time and money, although i do think basswax is actually pretty decent stuff. Maybe give that a try. It does'nt just wash off the second it hits the water. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 30, 2008 Super User Posted January 30, 2008 Favorite is Megastrike in a tube. Carolina Lunker Sauce in a roll on tube. Jack's Juice in crawfish flavor. Secret recipie that I use and do not share. Use scents on just about everything that leaves the boat on the end of my line. Some guys on this site do not use scent and do not believe in them. But it is a confidence builder so use it on all baits if you wish. Quote
Shadcranker Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I use bang Pure Craw. a friend of mine has been through the plant, and this stuff is actulaly rendered from crawfish and put in aeresol form. I thought it was a gimmick until the guy in the front of the boat caught about six to my one on a football jig on structure. It's more of a confidence thing with me now, but I wouldn't jig fish without it. Quote
bassdocktor Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I really don't think the spray washes off that quick but I guess it depends which one you are using. I use the Bang Garlic mostly to cover up anything I may transfer. You can take my worm/jig or whatever and it still smell quite awhile later even after flipping for a long time. My experience is more limited with something like Smelly Jelly but my partner this summer was using that in crawfish and I could smell it in the back of the boat the entire day. He only applied it once and it was definitely coming off the jig and not something like a towel or him. Honestly, I don't think it can hurt you might even help. But do a search, there have been several on going posts here in the last year. Quote
flippin Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 i use bang shad on cranks and sinnerbaits and pure craw on everything else i only use the sray not the aresol Quote
smallieking Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 i use a crawfish smell attraction well i dont spray it i take a medicine needle and fill it with the attraction then take a soft bait and inject the attractant into the body of the bait it seems to work pretty good Quote
fooman Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I use Bang garlic and I swear by it,also use Yum crawfish in the hollow cavities of Yum crawbugs.. Will be trying the new Gulp alive spray this season Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 31, 2008 Super User Posted January 31, 2008 I use attractants for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and the attractant helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I usually use YUM craw scent on jigs and sometimes plastics. I use Mega Strike on all plastics - won't throw plastics without Mega Strike, even when I'm trout fishing. Caught my PB on a Yamamoto Kreature doused in YUM craw scent, so I have no complaints Quote

It does'nt just wash off the second it hits the water. but if its an oil based attractant, then it stays on because oil is hydrophobic meaning it repels the water and stays on longer as it slowly disperses into the water Quote
The Next KVD Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I use BANG pure craw. But i use it just to cover the smells on my hands so when I'm handling lures the smell of gas, candy bars, ect. are covered up so the bass can't smell or taste any of these. Quote
