ZJ23 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I want to get a new reel and rod not a combo though i want to pick them out seperatly. I want a bait caster but not sure what to get any suggestions? Quote
Bass Tracker 20 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 My suggestion would be to go to this thread "Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, Leaders, and Knots" and ask that question : Quote
fishingfourfun Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Just purchased a RevoSTX and Vendetta rod. It is a dream to cast. Quote

The Rooster Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 What do you want to use the rod for?? Specific technique?? All around, general fishing combo?? What's your budget?? Quote

Rio Maverick Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 A reel that fits your hand well, with good bearings. You don't have to spend a lot, maybe 75-100$. Stay away from the cheap stuff, if possible. I use several brands which are rigged differently. Rod, 6ft med. action is a good choice, I think for general usage. I really like my Garcia XLT and Falcon rod with 17lb Big Game for all around use. I wish they still made the XLTs. Remember the fish don't care what reel, rod or boat you are using. Line may be a different case! Quote
ZJ23 Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 my budget is about $150 total maybe a lil more and its for jus all around fishing, mainly freshwater but occasionally ill go down to florida for a lil saltwater fishing so something good for both Quote

ZJ23 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 i got a diawa strikeforce and love it i checked out the shimano but it was kinda heavy i havent bought a rod but am thinking about the browning silaflex is it a good choice? Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Since you like the Daiwa, I would say try either the Exceler or Tierra in a combo. Cabelas has the Exceler and Cabelas Fish Eagle II rod for around $130. Just ordered a Exceler off ebay myself to try and just have to figure out a rod to put in on myself. Good Luck Quote
ZJ23 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 yea i was aiming for a bit cheaper tho haha Quote
