What rod should I get for baitcaster?

Ok im looking at buying a Browning Midas baitcaster. But I need a rod for it, and it needs to be no more than $60 preferably less, splitgrip, and new. Thx in advance

That is a tough price range when looking for a split grip.  I am assuming (which could be way off base) that you are looking for an all around rod.  If so, I would probably go for a 7' MH  Berkley Lighting Shock (which I have a couple of and really like).  If I wanted a rod that was more technique specific I might look for a used St. Croix Mojo.

We have a Cabela's near here and if I am ever looking for a rod, I always check their bargain area too.  A lot of times they have rods that are returned or have had minor repairs to them and you can sometimes catch a pretty good deal there.

If you have a near by Dicks, go check out the Field & Stream Tec Spec line of rods.  The are priced at $59.99 and from what I can tell so far from mine, are worth it.

I have the 2010 Midas (LH). It's a very nice reel. It would look sweet on a Tec-Spec. At times I've seen Fenwick HMX & even HMG rods below $60. But, you need to be patient

I second the vote for the used St. Croix Mojo rod, but yes, it might still be a little out of your price range.

From the looks of it, a F&S Tec Spec fits your desires of a $60 split grip stick.  I'm sure you can find a $10 off Dick's coupon online that'll leave you enough for a spool of line.

I have an Alphas ito mounted on a F&S TEC Spec 6' 8" Medium Fast.  Only used it on the water twice so far.  Casts fine as long as you use the proper weight lure.  !/8 oz. lures don't cast all that far, but it is rated for 1/4-5/8 oz. lures.  Caught one fish with it, and it was a monster...for a minnow!     Was a baby Rock Bass.

No problem feeling the lure working or feeling when the lure picks up a weed.  Don't know what kind of bottom the lure is contacting, but that is due to my inexperience.

I would go with either of the rods that Rick named and yes the Berkley Amp comes in both 1pc and 2pc with the majority of the casting rods being 1pc.

Cabelas also has the Prodigy down to $59.99 on some models online as well

Ok let me lower my price to 39.99, Im looking at the Berkley Lighning rod and The Berkley amp, because right now I dont need a Expensive rod, BUT if I do ill probably get the Tec-Spec, but which one should I get? I mean there is a Crankbait 1, finnese, soft plastic, is there a difference? If so what?

can't speak for the finesse rod, but I believe the difference between the worm/plastic and the crankbait could be length and tip stiffness. In almost ever rod model I have looked at the tip had a fast action for the plastic and most were only 6.5' long while the crankbait versions were about half a foot longer. I think the reasoning is that with worm fishing you need to feel the bite while with the crankbait you don't need the sensitivity.

I'm in the same boat as you are though i have a little more to spend. If you are maxed at $40 i wouldn't give up on the Tec Spec just yet. Dicks often has on line 20% off sales and they also have $10 off coupons they hand out when you buy a fishing license. The on line printed ones don't really work because the company knows what is going on. Either way, $10 off brings that rod to within $10 of your number.

IMHO you should wait till 40 becomes 70-80. So many good choices in that range. Clarus, Vendetta, Carbonlite, Premier, and I could go on and on.
