G Loomis Spinnerbait VS Cumara Reaction Rod (Or other good spinnerbait rods)

I am looking for a new rod for spinner baits... does anyone have any experience with the G Loomis Spinnerbait rod (non GLX) and the Cumara Reaction?

I am debating heavily between those two currently... any bright ideas are welcome as well. (Price range about $200 looking for a MH 6'9-7'2 rod)

the Loomis spinnerbait rod is the shizit, I had one and my only regret is that I had to sell it, needed some extra money at the time...search that rod in here and other forums, nothing but good things said all around.

I've got a G Loomis spinnerbait rod as well.  I had it paired with a revo premier but recently put a daiwa fuego on it.  I honestly just don't throw spinnerbaits that much so I couldn't give you a good review on it.  I've mainly used it for buzzbaits but it's been a great rod.  You can never go wrong with a Loomis rod IMHO but from experience I don't think a high dollar rod for spinnerbaits is necessary unless that's your main tactic that you use for fishing and then I'd say go for it!

Or you can take a look at the 733 if you tend to throw lighter spinnerbaits in the 1/4 - 1/2oz range. This is the rod I own and use for this application and it works amazingly well if you prefer longer rods.

Dobyns Champ Cast Rod 7'3" Hvy 734

This looks interesting since it looks like it would do double duty for a small swim bait rod...

Is it as light/sensitive as the other rods I mentioned? Frankly I have never held a Dobyns so I am a little unfamiliar.

Good to see they have a warranty similar to the gloomis too... since I am really good at breaking rods  :-/

the GLoomis spinnerbait SBR812 is an excellent spinnerbait rod.  I paired it up with a shimano citica and man is this a great combo.  The extra fast tips greatly increased my accuracy when casting into tight cover or pockets.  It's a great rod and you can feel the spinnerbait blades spinning as you're reeling it in.

Yeah, thats it. I really encourage people give these a try. They are terrific rods and I have never been so impressed with a rod for that price, and I'm not the type to get attached to a brand really, although it is sometimes difficult not to with fishing tackle you like. Worst case scenario, if it's not for you, you have to sell it in the flea market. Lightly used should net you $150+ plus buyer pays the shipping. For that matter, they all have similar resale values.

I don't have extensive experience with the Cumara or Loomis SB models, but I have fished with the Cumara and handled the Loomis SB in stores and they are nice rods, especially the Cumara. From G. Loomis, I own Mossyback, IMX, and GLX rods, and also own the Dobyns Champion 734 and 766. I'd say the Dobyns Champion ranks in between the $260 IMX and $360 GLX sensitivity-wise, leaning slightly towards GLX. The balance and feel is where they really shine IMO. My guess is that the Champ weighs a hair more, maybe quarter or half ounce more than the super light Cumara, but the Champ's balance is so nice you won't feel it. The Champ actually feels better to me.

They are all nice rods, and they cost about the same. I think you more than likely will be happy with all 3, I would be. But dollars for donuts, I think the Champ is a better rod and a better value than the Cumara or the Loomis SB.

Let us know what you decide. keep an eye out for Tackle Warehouse sales. When they have the next one, I'll be getting the 736.

If you purchase the Dobyns 734 and don't like it, I will gladly take it off your hands for you. Like I said, I own the 733 and it is my lighter spinnerbait, lipless crank, and topwater rod. The 734 should make an excellent rod for throwing spinnerbaits and small swim baits.
