I can't comment on how good it is but can say that I have read a lot of recommendations in the last few weeks here and it seems as though when anyone asks for a good reel under a few hundred, a Revo sx is always one of the reels that gets a ton of votes. That price is pretty good to with prices around $160 at most places.

If you are wondering about 2009/2001 model differences, the mfg normally states what was improved, if anything. Personally, i would go for it at that price. If I could get a reel right now I would grab it too.

Ive been very unhappy with the new curado and sold mine off sticking to my old d series curado's.  Lately Ive had minor breakdowns with them.  That and finding that my new Stradic CI4 2500 was loosing its finish even though its always kept in a shimano reel cover, had made me very disenchanted with Shimano.

To try something different I recently got the 2010 SX.  Wow a great reel. Solid. An anti reverse different from any Shimano Ive ever used, absolutely no back play.  I see more SX's in my future.

I would highly recommend the SX. I absolutely love the reel. I would have more than one if it weren't for Tackle Warehouse selling the 2009 Premiers for so cheap. When they have sales the Premiers are a great deal there. But I would have no reservations about buying an SX.

Hey, I paid $140 for a SX last year and it was a good deal.  Go for it.  Nice reel.

I bought it! It is on the way. Should be here next week.

Congratulations. Always nice to hear of someone getting new equipment. ;D

I purchased an 09 STX-L not long ago. Haven't used it on water yet as I haven't needed the 40 lb. braid that it is spooled with. Have practiced with it in my yard. I think it will do great on water. Can't see there being that much difference between our two reels.
