Braided line on spinning gear has been the answer for me as well.  10, 15, and 20 lb suffix has treated me very well with or without a leader.  It doesn't fall off the spool when you open up the bail, and it definitely cuts down on the line twist to the point that it almost does not exist.

I agree 100% with closing the bail manually and I always give the line a small tug to ensure that any loose coils are tightened up to avoid those nasty snarls on your next cast.

Spinning gear has definitely earned a place in my lineup since spooling up with braided line.  I would try it before giving up on it.  It catches too many fish to not have one with you.

Tin, to me the CXX at 8 feels like 10, so I know what you mean. While it will probably pull a log from a lake before it breaks, it's like fishing with slinky-line. I switched to Yz based on RW's recommendation, and though it's not as strong, it's like fishing with an overcooked ramen noodle.

My issue with braid on spinning gear is unless I'm skipping a bait into cover I would want a flouro leader. But this means another knot, and I want as few knots and spots to possibly break in the line as possible. And when I have braid going to 6 pound line I just don't trust that line to line knot, I'm also typically fishing rocks when I fish with spinning gear. Braid + rocks = bad day

Having spent the better part of the last two tournaments throwing a 3" Gulp minnow and a 4" finesse worm, I remember why I never carry spinning tackle.

Line twist sucks, spinning reels suck, spinning rods suck. There is at least one additional Core in my future.

Yeah, mono on spinning gear can cause headaches. :'(

He uses 8 lb. Pline on it (not sure if it's CX or CXX). I use 6-8 lb. Berkley Vanish or 100% Flouro and haven't had near the issues he has with my spinning gear. I needed to put new line on one of my spinning reels and forgot to do it the night before and started to do it on the way to the lake Saturday with some of his Pline, glad I didn't after listening to him cuss it all day.

Actually I have 8 lb. Trilene 100% on both of my Stradics.

Need some of that KVD. ;) lol

Too much trouble to use.  I have a hard enough time remembering to tie my shoes, much less spray something on my reels.

mmm, I hear you and used to view it that way. But it makes up for the time you will spend playing with line and getting ticked off. Just keep a can of Reel Magic with you.

Wish I could understand all the issues with P-Line on spinning reels, I swear it works perfect for me which is why I fish with it so much. I wish you guys were coming to the roadtrip, I would gladly let you try my setup for a day just to show you how well it works.

Do you know if P-Line's products have a thicker diameter than most lines? I feel like 10 pound CX and CXX feels more like a 12.

I believe CXX might be a tad bigger than other companies lines in the same diameter.  I would never again use CXX for spinning, even in the 6-8 lb range because of the manageability issues.

That might be burley's problem  and going to the CX or to a fc line will fix most of the issues he's having.

CXX is for baitcasters only IMO. I use it on just about all of my rods except spinning.  Even though it might be tough to manage sometimes, it doesn't let me down.

Right now I have 6lb BPS flouro and it has worked very well.  Sufix siege is also a good choice for spinning, used it last year and never had a problem bass fishing with it.

If you're fishing light stuff, what about your Curado, thought they great for light stuff?

Wrong rods

Trilene 100% is not as manageable as some people here make it out to be.I hated that line.

I have P-line CXX in 6# test on a Daiwa Fuego 2000 and that thing is working like a charm.Burley,I think it was you who recommended it to somebody once or twice here.I picked up on that tip and decided to try Fluoro again.I'm glad i did now....

Where did you pick it up? I refuse to buy lines from Dick's and Wally World.

I think it was Dick's....or Gander mountains.I don't remember now because i visited both as they were about a half a mile apart from each other.I brought from both stores that day.... :-/

Why won't you pick up line from Dick's sporting goods?

I don't know about yours but the stuff at the one I go to will have dust on top of it and the same goes for Wal Mart. Seems like a lot of the line they sell is old and loaded with memory. The last roll of Seaguar I bought there flew off the spool and slinkied up on me. I know a lot of others in my area who won't buy line from either one either. Where as I buy Seaguar from TW it is as limp as it flouro can be.

Fishing from the banks, I like(ed) #10 Gamma on 2500 size Daiwa reels.  I find it very manageable, but #6 is even easier to use.

Just as novice baitcasters need to educate their thumbs and pick up good habits, so do users of spinning gear.  Besides applying the tips from Steezy, long-time users of spinning gear develop an awareness of the condition of their line.  Whether it's watching line on a retrieve, listening for knots passing through the guides, or periodically checking to checking to see how the line is spooling, these habits become second nature to those of us who grew up with spinning gear.

I was very skeptical but a friend reccomended I try CXX #6 on my spinning rods and it rocks. Strong, sensitive, and shockingly manageable for an Abraision resistant mono.

Prescription by Dr Raul:

1.- Gloomis CR721

2.- Daiwa Liberto Pixy

3.- Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6 lbs test

Add water, feesh and enjoy.  ;)

I'm with Tin. I don't understand how or why anyone would use P-Line CX or CXX on a spinning reel.

Right now I am using Trilene 100%. At first it was great but through the winter and now into spring I've been having some line twist/coiling issues. Next is Seaguar Invizx.

x2, Tin and I live in the same area, I wont buy my line from the big boxes either, I pretty much only shop at TW, oh crap that reminds me, I need to place another order ;)

CXX in 4, 6 and 8 are fine on spinning tackle.

CX is great on spinning tackle.  8 lb CX is usually all I use.  Decided to try fluoro this spring.

Want to try something else? Send me your

address and I'll send you a combination to

test out after the Roadtrip. You can fish it

all summer and see what you think.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't like the idea of borrowing people's tackle.  If something happened to it I would feel pretty bad.
