pat_walker_fishing Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I was wondering if they had had there own facilities were they made them or did they have someone like shimano or another rod company biuld them for them Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 28, 2010 Super User Posted April 28, 2010 It's top secret. Neither company makes anything, but they might have things made exclusively for them. Products are manufactured by independent companies and relabeled. 8-) Quote
OnthePotomac Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I know that Diawa makes Cabelas spinning reels and Cabelas has been open about it. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 28, 2010 Super User Posted April 28, 2010 bass pro claims to have there own rod factory.it's in the catalog. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 Here is what I understand is going on with BPS. 1. BPS has its own rod specs that they shop around to get the most attractive deal from various rod manufacturers. 2. BPS has their logos and type settings used on the rods. 3. Rod manufacturers can change during the years based on who is going to offer the most attractive fiancial deal to BPS and which rods perform the best. Would think the same is true for all of BPS and Cabellas' products. Follow the money! Quote
trevor Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Daiwa makes cabelas freshwater reels, and i think okuma makes their trolling conventional reels. And i think silstar makes gander mountain reels and i think i heard reaction makes cabelas rods and i think and i think and i think THE CANADIENS BEAT WASHINGTON!!!! Quote
RippinLips86 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Pflueger makes BPS and Browning reels. they also make Gander Mtn. baitcasters too Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 reaction strike makes cabelas rods . reaction strike makes crappy baits but there rods are very good ..... Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 I've had nothing but good experiences with BPS rods, I have three. I had one cabelas rod break but I think it was operator error and not the rod. Quote
LAO162 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Pflueger makes BPS and Browning reels. they also make Gander Mtn. baitcasters too But who's making the Pflueger reels and running the factory? ;) Regardless, so far I like my Browning reels Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 Pflueger makes BPS and Browning reels. I'm sure pure fishing is making those reels but not Pflueger itself. Most of the models within the BPS/Browning line have little in common with any specific Pflueger reel in their line other than some internal machining. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted April 29, 2010 Super User Posted April 29, 2010 Pflueger makes BPS and Browning reels. they also make Gander Mtn. baitcasters too Quantum makes the new GM series reels the older elites sure look like pinnacle visions I don't see Pflueger anywhere Quote
Tpayneful Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Those new GM series reels at Gander Moutain have what look like ACS cast controls that are on Quantum reels. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted May 1, 2010 Super User Posted May 1, 2010 Those new GM series reels at Gander Moutain have what look like ACS cast controls that are on Quantum reels. Not to mention the same body styles, Burner logo, they say Performance tuned, and have the quantum symbol on the cast control knob. Quote
