patriarch xt is lighter than a patriarch.i would buy either over the premier becuase of the titanium deposition finish which is close to indestructable and will look good years after the premier looks like doo-doo.

patriarch hands down.  Only plus to the revo might be the drag, but the patriarch can have an upgraded drag system very easily.

On a side note.  The finish on the patriarch is very very durable, but don't leave it in a rod locker that is moist for a long time.  The moisture can ruin the finish, its still the same finish, just changes the color alittle bit.

If you are comparing 2010 models, you know, apples to apples, the Premier is the better reel for one simple reason, the quality of the bearings.  The Patriarch has stainless steel bearings but the Premier has H(igh) P(erformance) C(orrosion) R(esistant) bearings.

Both 2010 models use the dual braking system.  Although I haven't used the Patriarch, I have been using the Premier 2K10 since the beginning of the year.  I started with 1, liked it so much I bought another and I'll be placing an order for another very shortly.

I've used the Premier for shallow cranks, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and pitchin' and it hasn't failed in any capacity, casting, drag performance and smoothness on retrieve.

For the $30 more, you're getting the top of what an American angler has access to.

I have decided on the Premier, just because of the bearings and the additional line capacity. I have a standard Patriarch wide spool and it work fine for the 15 to 20 lb. line I normally use.

Thanks for the input.
