I have been testing different kinds of mono for my spinnerbait setup and have yet to find one I like. So, this time I am trying some Berkley Big Game line. I also spooled some on my flipping setup since I dont really like braid and dont feel like ordering some fluorocarbon. Anybody else used it?

i use it. 10# and 12# in green. never had any problem. while it isnt the smoothest or limpest , it casts just fine on a baitcaster and is cheap enough to respool or cut line on a regular.

I do .... 15# for spinnerbaits and 20# for pitching/flipping

You did good

Decent line if you don't wanna spend money on P - Line XXX premium. It has a lot of memory so buy some KVD line and lure conditioner. Tough as nails though.

I use 15# Big Game for every thing except matted vegetation ;)

I keep a spool of 10#, 12#, 15# and 20# on hand at all times, and use it on all of my baitcasters. I've found that it doesn't do very well on spinning reels, it's a little too stiff.

15 for me also, great stuff. Go green. I also use 12 and sometimes 20 in real heavy stuff.

works fine on my spinning reels, i also respooled 3 of my uncles spinning reels with it this spring and he has had no problems as well. i even have one of my spinning reels i use for catfish spooled with 25lb big game.

practically all i use is big game or stren mono and it works great for me, only had one break off due to a fish and that was with the 10lb line. i have equal luck with both the green and clear as well. i find the 15lb or 20lb works well for all my applications and has plenty of strength.

ive gotten snagged up with the 25lb big game, pulled on the line with my hands and bent my hook and came free before the line even felt like it was gonna snap...

Big Game is great line at a great price.

I have used GB Trilene for the past 15-20 years and never found it lacking. Some monos are better, but at $8 for a 1/4 lb spool, I just respool frequently. Always have 10, 12, and 15lb in the shop, usually in clear, although I won't go to another store to find clear, I just buy some green. I can honestly say that I have NEVER broken a fish off spinnerbait fishing with 15lb, and IMO, I see no need to go to 20lb. For flipping, pitching, and worms I use braid, not mono.

Great line, great price...what more could you ask for?

Other than the memory the stuff is great.I use 12# on a regular the only mono i use anymore.Just to let you guys know berkley max is pretty good stuff to.

it's good line but cajun red cast is better, stronger, limper and more abrasion resistant.it's also cheaper.

I must be shopping at the wrong stores. All the Big Game and Cajun Red that I've ever handled was absolutely miserable--barely worthy of backing.

X2. You know how frugal I am, dan. I Sony even buy it anymore.

i would say big game has slightly better castability than CXX. its not a bad line at all. maybe you came across some old/bad spools. i wouldnt use it on a spinning reel. at $7-$8 for 1500 yards of 10# , i like it.

cajun red makes a bunch of different lines.it has to be red cast to be limp.all the others are stiffer.red lightening is like wire.advantage is even to stiff for my taste.
