basser223 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 For all you die hard Braid fans when using braid do you use a leader? if so what type of line? Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 26, 2010 Super User Posted April 26, 2010 I've got two rods spooled with braid. One has a fluoro leader, the other has a mono leader. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishing-line-system.html Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 26, 2010 Super User Posted April 26, 2010 I have about 30 reels with braid on them. Some have a fluorocarbon leader, and some have no leader. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 26, 2010 Super User Posted April 26, 2010 I use a low vis mono leader for topwater presentations (just frogs with braid) or a fluoro leader. P - Line XPS fluoro leader material is by far the best. Quote
Super User Marty Posted April 26, 2010 Super User Posted April 26, 2010 I don't use leaders. Whether misplaced or not, I have confidence that the line doesn't deter strikes. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 Marty, I agree with you. I use the florocarbon leader to make the braid sink when using weightless soft plastic presentations. Quote
NewKidInTown Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 For all you die hard Braid fans when using braid do you use a leader? if so what type of line? I only use leaders when fishing Stone walls and roadbeds.. I use Copoly Leaders Usually..if some Fluoro comes along cheap,Ill use it. I definitely do not use Fluoro or Copoly for fear of fish seeing the braid. 100% for abrasion resistance. Quote
s13john Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 either yozuri hybrid or bps fluorocarbon seems to work good for me. 12-17 lb depending on cover Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 I use nothing but braid on about 20 spinning outfits, I do not like mono. I always use as leader, cut mine from Ande and gave up on floro leaders after seeing no real difference. My rule of thumb is doubling my line strength, 10#line, 20# leader and so on. Go with your own comfort. Quote
adclem Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I don't use any leaders at all either. I also belive that the line does not deter any strikes. Later, Quote
