I've had "the original" before the hype started, (the ones the pros use). They are much better than the ones you can get now. But they only produce rarely. I have tried various other type brands, with bad results. I knew this style of bait must work with the action it gives underwater. I got a KaRu VibraShock one day, and they are the only style bait in my bag. KaRu fixed the problem, that all the other brands missed. The blade hits the jig head, giving the fish to key in on the head with improves the hood ups. KaRu also has the best color selection, and he can make the color to fit your needs (no other company I have found is that loyal to the customers). Just think out of the box, you can create different looks to them, that the fish and fisherman has never seen ;). God Bless!

take the skirt off put a fluke on and hold on

now thats an idea ;)

speaking of which I have much more succes doing something like that than using it with the skirt and all. This is my baby here:It is a berkley realistix power minnow.Killer lure.Take my word, they crush this thing. ;)

The regular ones work for me just fine in NC.  I like white/chartruese.

Man, I love that minnow on there.  Do you have to glue it at all or does it stay on like that?

I had an idea to put a 5.5 in basstrix type swimbait on one to see how it swims.  We'll see.....

Most pros recommend that the Chatterbait be fished using braided line for maximum vibration. Also one of the selling points by the original designer was it's snag resistance while being pulled over limbs and that was due to the blade being directly attached to the jig. Most, if not all, copies have a split ring between the two parts and that results in more hangups. I still have some of the originals that I got from the inventor and they are of better quality components than the recent mfg. ones. I just resisted selling mine when the panic buying was going on and were being sold for $50+. I did give some away to a few people that "needed" one for an upcoming tournament in Fla. during that period. All those type of baits work well in cooler water temps early in the year when fished over submerged vegetation since they can be fished at a slower pace than a spinnerbait or Trap.

The Booyah model has a snap-on feature for the blade to jig head connection and I wouldn't trust it in a tournament situation.

I had a lot of success on the Chatterbait brand last year, and now it's one of my go-to baits, especially for night fishing.  I don't like the other brands I've tried (Booyah, Gambler) as much.  I'll have to try the Vibra-Shock though - that looks like a pretty sweet design.

I haven't gotten anything on my chatterbaits.  I am going to try throwing a Fluke or a LMShad on there... Very cool idea.

The boogie bait is the one to buy.  I hadn't had much luck on the chatterbait on two outings, but purchased a gold shad boogie bait and had a 30 fish morning the first time out with it.

This one was built by D+M Customs. It is 5/8oz and made with an owner cutting point hook with a swim shad trailer. It works really well on deep points, rockpiles, and I slow roll it in creek channels, and use it slow rolled at night.I also can pitch it in sparse brush and timber.Just another one of my little toys. ;)

the chatterbait for me has done very well but only at night with the black and blue..... I have had some luck with it during the day but i really never used it to much unless it was at night!!

I fished the Boogie Bait before I bought a Chatterbait or 2 and found that I do a whole lot better with the Boogie Bait. In fact, I don't think I have caught a fish on the Original.

Now that the boys at KaRu have come up with the VibraSpin and VibraShock I discovered that the LMB like those two baits so I will no doubt be fishing them along with the Boogie bait. I have caught my share of LMB on the boogie up to 5 lb. this past year.

All of those baits seem to work better in spring and fall. Reckon the warmer water in the hot months slow them down. That's when I go to the plastics.

Well I bought the Booyah Boogie bait, and fished it a bit with limited success, nothing to make me fall in love with the bait. I got it snagged and just never bought a new one because it just didn't do anything special for me and a spinnerbait just seemed to work plain out better for me.

Although with all the talk about it being good if you remove the skirt and add a soft jerkbait, I might buy a new one to give that a shot. And I might also buy a 2nd one in black/blue to try at night. But I'll tell ya this, im not spending 6$+ for them which is what I think I paid for the last one, so unless the price goes down a little I won't be buying one as IMO its just not worth that much money.

Oh yeah, now that I think about it, I did buy one of the original chatterbaits and still have it in one of my planos, but the quality of the bait IMO was so crappy that I never had the guts to tie it on.
