Super User skunked_again Posted April 22, 2010 Super User Posted April 22, 2010 Unless the reel was in the water for a long time, i wouldnt worry about a few seconds in the water. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 22, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 22, 2010 Nothing to be concerned about. Freshwater doesn't harm reels like saltwater does. At WORST, you would need to re-oil it. But it sounds like that isn't even necessary. My reels have gotten wetter in a heavy downpour. LOL! Quote

Chris W. Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I just did the same thing... 3rd time using it. What i did, before asking here lol, was disassemble the whole thing and clean it out and regrease it. I rinsed it with fresh water when i got home but it didn't sit well with me. I now know every single part on my reel, it's regreased with quality grease and i know my 25$ walmart mitchell reel is actually simple and solid internally, which makes me feel a bit better on my purchase. Simplicity is better for me anyways. Quote
