managed to catch my rod before it became a permanent submarine. it was a fresh water reservoir , any recommendations its been 12 hours since the dip.

Unless the reel was in the water for a long time, i wouldnt worry about a few seconds in the water.

Nothing to be concerned about.  Freshwater doesn't harm reels like saltwater does.  At WORST, you would need to re-oil it.  But it sounds like that isn't even necessary.  My reels have gotten wetter in a heavy downpour.  LOL!

I just did the same thing... 3rd time using it. What i did, before asking here lol, was disassemble the whole thing and clean it out and regrease it. I rinsed it with fresh water when i got home but it didn't sit well with me. I now know every single part on my reel, it's regreased with quality grease and i know my 25$ walmart mitchell reel is actually simple and solid internally, which makes me feel a bit better on my purchase. Simplicity is better for me anyways.
