St Croix Mojo rod

My wife picked up a Mojo rod yesterday. We plan to take it out tomorrow and try it out.

Has anyone tried this model? Likes/dislikes?

MLXF....seems like a nice action.

I had a Mojo MLXF for a while as a drop shot rod. I didn't care for it. It felt too flimsy even for dropshotting. I replaced it with a G Loomis SHR that I got on Ebay cheap.

I have the 6'8" xfast rod.  I like it more than my Cumara spinning rod.  I dont feel its flimsy or whippy at all.  It has caught many 20-30" snook for me this winter.  I think the Mojo series of rods are a great value and better than any in house BPS or cabelas rod could be.

If you handle the 6'8" MXF Mojo next to the same power/action Avid, the Mojo will feel "whippy" and soft in the tip. That's neither good nor bad. It just depends on what you're looking for and what feels good in your hand.

If they offered that length/power/action in the Premier or Triumph lines, I'd buy one to keep as a loaner.

I'm no Shimano guy but I know that the Mojo is not even in the same class as a Cumara. IMO...they are the worst rod Croix has ever produced for the price.

I can't speak to that exact model, but I have the topwater/jerkbait and crankbait versions and I'm very happy with them so far.

But then again, I'm just a workin' stiff who happens to enjoy bassin'. I refuse to pay almost a half a weeks salary for a rod (that means you G-Loomis) that I'll probably just end up closing in my truck door or some slick move like that. Just sayin'.. 8-)

Of course the Cumara is a better rod quality and build wise, it better be for what it costs in comparison to the Mojo. I just dont like it as much. Its a broomstick. A sensitive broomstick even if it is rated 1/8 -3/8. Its a preference thing not something about being in the same class. Like how I hate the E series Curado compared to the D. The world thinks Im nuts but its what I prefer.

I had the same questions a few months ago. I've been fishing 3 different rods around the same price range extensively: the mojo, the compre, and the carbonlite. the compre is my favorite by far, and the mojo is my least favorite by far. the mojo is tip heavy and the sensitivity is not as good as the compre's. just my 2 cents.

I have a m/h fast mojo, and am quite happy with it. for the money i believe the mojos are good rods. in that price range the others i'd consider is the bucco, and lamiglass excel (which I'd like to find locally to fiddle with).

I am up to three mojo's now, and while I really do like them, the biggest selling point is I can actually go to Dick's and play with them.

No Lamiglas around, I'd love to check out the excels. And finally saw the bucoo's at bass pro, but all they had were med action rods in stock.
