Med or Med Hvy?

What I plan to fish with it

Rattle traps(rarely)

spinnerbaits(rarely)

topwater(alot chug bugs,buzzbaits

worms and plastics(75 percent of the time)

most of my baits are in the 1/4 -5/8 at the heaviest.

I am bank fishing 95percent of the time max depth 13ft.

I like the feel of medium but don't wanna cut myself short on power...hmmmmm..and med heavy is a bad topwater rod right??  I don't know...... :-/ :-/

Med Hvy is a good all-round power for bass fishing techniques. The decision you face is more about the action/speed of the rod. Typically a dedicated worm rod would be a fast action and the top-water rod would be a moderate action. I'd suggest MH/F as a multi-purpose rod.

Tough call - some of your techniques (depending on the baits) call for a M/F but others call for a MH/XF.  I agree with DVT - a quality MH/F rod like a Loomis MBR 843 IMX would do a fine job.  And NO, a MH rod does NOT make for a bad topwater rod in many circumstances. 8-)

Medium heavy with a fast tip.

I also suggest going on-line to the various manufacturer's web sites and reading the suggested baits and techniques for their various rods.

Theories are all over the place but some guys like graphite while others a combination of graphite and other materials.

The rod's length, line test and bait weights should be your guide. Check the rod's specs as printed above the handle before making a final selection.

And I have to agree what Delaware Valley Tackle and Bronzefly suggest. Check out the Shimano line of rods, too.

You guys are great..thanks again. I think I get caught in the numbers too much I just notice alot of MH start at 3/8 for lightest bait and like I said I'm usually not that heavy. But...also bank fishing..med hvy would do better on those longer hookset right?

I'll agree with the rest, that a mh would be a good all-around rod for what you're fishing, and since most of the fishing you're doing is plastics or topwaters a F or XF action would be good.  Ultimately, you're going to have to go hold some rods in a store since not all mh's are created equal depending on the manufacturer.  You can easily find a MH rod that will feel best in your hand and you'll be just as happy with that as the M's you like the feel of.

"One rod" for me would be 7' Medium Power/Fast Action.

I'm currently using a pro qualifier 6'6 med power fast action. I looked online on performing a backbone vs tip check and it is where most mh are as far as taper at med power. I've only had it a week and maybe a couple of those misses weren't the rods fault... :)
