CFFF 1.5 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I posted a few weeks ago about a Browning Citori that was rough for a split second during a hard cast. I have narrowed down the problem to the brakes. When the reel is in free spool I have no problems but as soon as I put the brakes on 1 the problems start. Here is a picture of the braking system. Any ideas on how to fix this. Quote

Double check their policy, but basically, send it back with their packing form for an exchange and also a note asking for an exchange and reimbursement for return shipping. They returned a new Midas to me in < 2 weeks along with a check for my shipping. Limited use, but so far I really like the Browning. Enough to sell a couple other popular reels. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 this is an older reel. BEen out of warranty for probably 2 or 3 years. I just want to know if I can fix this problem without buying parts or if not do I need the brake shoes or the race that brakes rub on. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted April 13, 2010 Super User Posted April 13, 2010 Not in sharp focus, but it looks similar to the Quantum braking system. Use to have the same problem with them. We found when placing the brake side plate that we made sure all of the brakes were pushed in toward the spool center, with the dial on 0 then add the plate. Once the plate is mounted then turn the dial to max/10 and back to Zero. Then back to whatever setting we wanted to start with. Sometimes it would work the first time, sometimes it took a couple of times to get it setup. But each time we added the side plate we had to make sure that all of the brakes were depressed before adding the side plate... Just a thought......... Good luck & Tight Lines !! Quote
