Boogey Man Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I saw one of these in a tackle shop today, seemed like a heckava nice rod for $50 bucks. They had a 6'6" medium and a 6'6" medium heavy. The medium heavy seemed a little tip-heavy but the medium was really lightweight and seemed well balanced. It actually felt lighter in weight than the Vendetta. Anybody bought one yet? Quote
jerkw8nonajerk01 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 No I want it tho..the local tackleshop here can't keep em in stock and none have come back according to them. At 50$ worth a shot. Keep receipt Quote
revoman Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ordered one from T.W. Sent it back, the eyes were put on off center. Quote
JigMe Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Abu Garcia Vendetta seems decent, and only 20 bucks more. Might give that a shot. Quote
jerkw8nonajerk01 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Got one no complaints yet. not sure how i feel about the foam over the cork...we'll see.. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I have the 6'-3" model and I love it. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 8, 2010 Super User Posted April 8, 2010 The Vendetta fell apart after 3 days of jig fishing with only 30 pound braid. (Reel seat broke off LOL). I bet the Vengeance wouldn't last a day. It's the first bad Abu product I have bought and I understand why they were not used in the Classic. Quote
JigMe Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 agree with Tin right there. I bought a vendetta back in march, and went out few times. The rod tip broke off when I tried to set the hook. Quote
chromedog Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I bought a spinning one in 7' M last year at the end of the season. I bought it to use as a stick bait rod. They tend to run a little heavier that the ratings. For example I would really like to classify mine as more of a medium heavy. The pole is pretty decent and I only use it for stick baits and light cranks. I have only used it a handful of times but it seems to be a decent rod for the price. I will say I don't like the foam, it marks and cuts a little too easy. Quote

Did you send yours back under the warranty coverage? Quote
Pantera61 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 agree with Tin right there. I bought a vendetta back in march, and went out few times. The rod tip broke off when I tried to set the hook. That's the first time I've heard of that happening with a Vendetta. Try googling "Cumara broken tip" or "Crucial broken tip" both provide a wealth of reading material! Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 8, 2010 Super User Posted April 8, 2010 Not yet. I really liked the rod and it was the first time I have had an issue with a Abu product. It just seems like the reel seat was super glued on and after winching in some fish it became loose and eventually broke. Whatever, worth the gamble and hoping of finding another good cheap rod. I still love my Revo's. Just by looking at the rod I didn't think it would hold up like I wanted it to. The specs were all good on it, it was a 7' H and I was just planning on using it for pitching jigs. Quote

I did exchange for a new Vendetta, and no problem with it right now. Quote

I wouldn't call it a "wealth of reading material". The 4th result was this thread... Quote

CWilliams Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Yep. With the majority of them having little or nothing to do with Cumaras and broken tips. When doing a similar search for "shoe broken tip", google came up with 5 million hits....can put just about anything in google and come up with a million+ hits that have absolutley nothing to do with the information you are looking for. But a whole lot more than for Vendetta broken tips. More complaints about the Cumura and Crucial Quote
CWilliams Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 The Vendetta is new. Cumaras and Crucial not so much. It is a silly comparison either way. Since you brought it up, a google search for "vendetta broken tip" had over 3 million hits. "Cumara broken tip" has 881. Are you trying to say the Vendettas are better than the Cumaras? Quote

No, the proof is in the google! ;D Quote
CWilliams Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Lets give it 2 years and see what people think of it then. By that time their warranty will be up and will be out of luck if they run into any problems. Quote

By that time their warranty will be up and will be out of luck if they run into any problems. The rods have a 3 year warranty, most manufacturer's defects become apparent within that time, in which case it's covered. Unless of course you're the type of person who would cheat on a warranty claim by sending something back that was stepped on or closed in a door or eaten by the dog. Quote
JigMe Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Well, this topic is going the wrong direction... Quote
Pantera61 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Well, this topic is going the wrong direction... I have noticed it happens on certain manufacturer threads. Well, when a certain manufacturer's products are questioned as to their quality. Quote
CWilliams Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 It is more a problem with people giving misinformation than anything. Giving the impression that the Vendetta is better than a Cumara due to tip breakage problems is flat out false. People come here for purchase questions and a lot use this site exclusively when making a decision on what rod to purchase. They should be given the truth not infomercial like claims by people trying to push a product that they purchased. Quote
bweave09 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I have the 7' H and it's been fine so far. Only used it 2 or 3 times though. Its decent but nothing special, but seems pretty good for 50 bucks. Nothing worth fighting over. Quote
