Figuring inches per handle turn

This is probably a silly ? but i have some spinning reels that are 4.8.1,5.2.1,5.8.1 and a couple in between these and i am trying to figure out the inches per handle turn to try to get  reels of 100yds each out of 1 200 yd spool of fluoro. I was thinking of going with 25 for all and hopefully being within a FEW yds on all of them-WOULD THIS WORK? OR SHOULD I JUST BUY MORE AND FILL THEM UP AND NOT WORRY ABOUT GOING BROKE BUYING FLUOROCARBON????

im a little confused as to what youre asking but this may help if youre not already doing it.

use a cheap line for backing and tie your flouro to that. i use cajun red mono to make it easy to tell when im running low.

The reel should be marked with how many yards of a certain size line it will hold. In/turn will change slightly as the reel fills. If you still want to know IPT, mark the line at a guide mid way on the rod. turn the handle 1 full turn and measure from the guide to the new spot of the mark on the line.

Two answers for you. First, the easy one.

Fill the reel all the way with whatever el cheapo line you have for backing. Take it out in the yard and make a long cast. Make two or three long casts. after the last cast, with the line still out, strip off an additional 20 yards and cut it off. Tie on your flouro using back to back uni knots, and fill up the spool with the good stuff.

The hard way. You'll need to calculate the volume of the torus using spool dimensions you measure. Then, using the line diameter, calculate the approximate volume of the air spaces in the filled spool. Calculate the size of the torus to be filled with good line, and subtract from the total volume.

As we professors are fond of saying; the rest is left as an exercise for the student. ;D ;D ;D

yum, if i understand you correctly, you want to put 100 yards of fluorocarbon onto each of your spinning reels and the rest would be cheaper backing, like mono. if so, using cheaper backing is a good idea with fluoro...not just because fluoro is more expensive but because fluoro at the end of the spool isn't as usable since it gets tightly packed around the arbor and will come off in tight coils since fluoro is stiffer and has more memory.

bass pro shops actually is a really good source for finding IPT (inches per turn). on their website (or in their printed catalogs, look up your reels and the IPT is listed between the gear ratio and reel weight as "line rec." (which is 'line recovery in inches per turn'). however, be aware that IPT changes depending on how much line is already on the spool.
