I've decided to use my Lowrider LFC-6-17 for reaction baits (the only reaction baits I use are spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and then occasional jerkbait). The action of the rod is too flimsy for contact baits in the places I fish.

I want to get a rod to use for t-rigged Brush Hogs and such, and I want to try a Powell. I know it will have 50# PowerPro with a 15# CXX leader.

So, when I eventually get a rod for this technique, which model should I get? I was thinking the 7' Mag-Heavy. Is this rod pretty stout?

7' H or mag heavy. Either one will work.

Nail on the head....you hit it.  I'll add the 7'H is a little more versatile and is good for larger spinnerbaits as well.

Thanks both of you. This will definitely be a technique-specific setup. As for the reel....Curado?  ;D

The 705C is the PERFECT T-rig rod IMO. I have 3 all with revo STXs and 50# Fireline braid. It is nowhere near it's mag heavy rating but it is a very nice rod.

So if the Mag-Heavy is not as stout as what it states then were does that leave other rods in the series such as just a Medium Heavy rod??  I was gonna get the 683C personally.

I love the 683C, and use for T-rigs, Spinnerbaits, and jigs. The 704C is equally as effective for those techs, but is alot stouter. It still has an XF tip, and isn't a boomstick. It is mainly my jig rod now.

How do they balance with the 705c?
