zbigbadaaron Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Which one is the better reel? Which one cast the best, has the smoothest retrieve, and has the best drag. Trying to figure out which one to get for a plastics and jigs? thanks Quote
kikstand454 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 i have neither. however. according to the bps catolog, the drags are as follows... curado 200 series- 11lbs. 300 series- 15lbs. revo premier 20lbs. theres those numbers. Quote
SDoolittle Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I have both and they're both good reels, but I like the Revo better than the Curado. With that said, I like the Revo STX better than the Premier. Quote
Pantera61 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 As someone who has also used both, the Premier 2K10, as it's being referred to by some, is the winner. Hands down. STX better? Ehhh. Quote
barroncooper Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I dont have the premier but I have the 2k10 sx and I love it except for the short handle on it. I don't think it will pitch as well as the curado though. If the premier has the short handle like the I don't think I would like it. I have ordered the longer handle off of the winch to solve the problem. I think that both of them have their strengths and weaknesses though. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted April 4, 2010 Super User Posted April 4, 2010 I love my Premier (2009) for baits 3/8 and greater. It is MONEY for those heavier baits but I have found it to be annoyingly finicky with lighter weights. I have used a friend's Curado and it seems to throw lighter weights more easily. My .02 Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 4, 2010 Super User Posted April 4, 2010 Not a good comparison. Apples & oranges. Having owned all three. Curado > Premier Core 50mg >>>> Premier Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I got a 2010 Premier four weeks ago and previously fished my SIL's Curado. I like the Premier hands down for cast control, smooth retrieve and drag. I have an STX ordered. Enough said. Quote
adclem Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I have fished both and the Premiere is hands down the better of the two. Mind you my Curado also has upgraded ceramic bearings and believe me my Premiere right out of the box cast all baits better then my Curado, has a smoother retrieve and a much smoother drag. I also have the new Cores and the Premiere is in the same class and is also quite a bit cheaper the the Cores. Just my opinion Later, Quote
SDoolittle Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 As someone who has also used both, the Premier 2K10, as it's being referred to by some, is the winner. Hands down. STX better? Ehhh. All of the reels I'm talking about are 2009 models. I haven't used the 2k10. Once again, I do prefer the 2009 STX over the 2009 Premier. It just seems like a smoother reel. The only thing I like better about the Premier is that it is lighter. To each his own I guess. Quote
