His new company, Duckett Fishing, is coming out with a new line of rods. They are all white (for less visibility by the fish in clear water), have micro guides (even spinning), and he sure talks like they're the cat's meow. Sounds a little far out to me. I heard him talk about them on a podcast the other day, and he was telling all these things...I need to paint all my rods in a baby bass color...maybe the fish would attack the rod instead of the lure...it would sure save a lot of line. lol.

I'm sorry but I don't trust a word out of that mans mouth. HE SELLS SELLS SELLS! He already mentioned in a ESPN article he choose a middle of the road Chinese blank.  I'd love to see more Micro's on the market but I won't be buying anything with his name on it.

Sorry.  I didn't know they were that old.  I just heard about them on a podcast the other day.  I guess it was old...Whoops.  :D

There was a study done not long ago that measured the most "visible" color from an underwater perspective.  Granted, this study was intended for trout and to let trout fisherman know what colors are easily detectable from underwater.  Well, white was by far the most detectable.  They warned that if you are on a stream for trout, don't wear white.  I'm sure the backdrop of the surrounding trees helps the white stand out on a stream, but I am sure a white rod just doesn't disappear when you are on a boat.  It is so interesting what reasoning these guys give for various things that are not scientifically proven.

just like because the bottom of my boat is white the bass can't see it either. I don't understand...and like a fish can discern what is rod and what is boat. gimmick if you ask me.  they may be a great rod... never tried one.  but I can tell you that because they are white doesn't make them any better.

Looks like an Onion to me...

I don't know anything about the Micro guides....But i have enough trouble trying to thread baitcasting rods as it is...I don't need those guides any smaller than they already are.

micro guides are great , i don't know about buying anything boyd duckett is selling , seems like he puts his foot in his mouth on these rods he is selling , first badmouthing E21 (carrot stix) about them making products that didn't meet "his standards" , but then makes his own rods that so far can't hold a candle to E21's rods , plus the gimmicky sales pitches are ridiculous !! they should be selling them at wal-mart ..... just my opinion  :D

It is a good looking rod, but for $160 I think that a man could buy a rod that is proven to be the cats a$$.  Also, I am sure that the other rod manufacturer didn't say that they are a certain color for any reason...Just sounds stupid!!

On a cloudy day in the middle of a lake, a white rod makes as much visible sense as any other color.

I wonder if they are going to offer the rod in blue for those days that don't have clouds.

LOL.  I stay away from wearing anything white because you're in the sun, unlike the bottom of a boat.  I swear it spooks em.

I doubt the rod makes a big frickin difference as far as fish seeing something, no matter what the color is.  It probably looks like a limb sticking out for all we know.  I would say the big goofing thing holding the rod scares them more than the rod itself.  At least thats what I blame it on.   :D
