I bought a Daiwa Megaforce a few weeks ago and it casts beautifully. Other than the Daiwa Viento, it is my best reel... I recently discovered, while taking it apart, that it's most plastic, and I don't like that at all... I still have the receipt  and plan on taking it back this weekend.

I have my eye on a Quantum Code CD860CX Reel, basically the same gear ratio as the megaforce, but it's made out of metal parts... How do the reels stack up, anybody had any problems with the Quantum at all?

I have never fished either one of these reels, but I have felt both of them many times and done a little research on the Megaforce.  From what I learned, the Megaforce is not as good of a reel as Daiwa is putting on.  I have heard several stories of people that have had Megaforce reels cost them a good fish.  I have never done any research on the Code, but I have felt it in the stores and I have to say that it feels great.  I am thinking about buying myself one in a few weeks to put on a worm rod...

Hope this helps some, but I am sure since I have no first hand knowledge on these it won't help out too much... :D

I've got one and haven't had any problems out of it in the 4 years I've had it.  I've heard the Megaforce reels cast extremely well so the Code might not be as good of a caster but seems solid.

My Code casts as well as my Revo! I've had it almost a year and I like it alot. Megaforce seems cheap and gimmicky.

this was my impression as well.

while i do not own either reel... i do have almost every other model that quantum makes and have no problems with them.

daiwa make awesome reels and i love the three that i have... but i think maybe the megafore was a misstep in trying to put out a reel in this price range.

I have both reels. My code is my workhorse reel and it performs very well in that role. I use my Megaforce when I am on a boat and use it strictly for jigging, no casting at all. I love the twitchin bar when I am jig fishing.
