The lenght depends on what You like, I'm a tad over 6' and I prefer a 7'6" rod, I find that my 7'11" is too long, and my 7' is a tad on the short side, but good if you cast from shore, and have alot of trees ect that limit you..Never tried a telescopic though, imho if your flippin jigs, you need as much sensitivity as possible, and I'm not sure a tele rod would have that..?

I would try and opt for a 1 pc. rod if it's possible.

Thanks, I am only 14 and am 5'9 so I think I'll go with the 7'6.  I have a Loomis GL2 thats 7'6'' and is tel, the only thing wrong with it is if you wanna keep it looking nice its difficult. :)

telescoping rods don't detract from sensitivity , certainly not with the upper end rods like a St.croix legend tournament !!!!

I had (key word is HAD) the 7'6" Legend Tournament rod even though it was rated as a MH it fished like a H or more powerfull rod. I rid myself of that rod for  one reason, balance was terrible, in fact the worse of any rod I have ever owned, even with bigger reels on it like Citica 201D's and Quantum Accurist Pt's, both 9.5- 10 oz. reels, it took a lot of weight to balance it and I just was never comfortable with it.
