BassFishingMachine Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Seems too good to be true IMO, im scared to make the order :-?. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I ordered this same sale last year, and got some decent lures. That little Lews Rattle Trap is on a $3 bait, but it is a great lure. Quote
BaitMS Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I ordered them last year too. And, if you have been wanting to order some lures now is the time because they will be included in the free shipping. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 Nope. I don't need five lures I will never fish, I already have a few...dozen(s)! : 8-) Quote
BassChaser57 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 You are right RW but I am going to order them as that will give me some cheap lures to loan to my partner while fishing or I can give them to my son to help fill his tackle box. You have to admit, it is a good deal. 8-) Quote
dman Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 and like baitMS said: It gives you free shipping for your whole order. Stock up on all the stuff you need Quote

CFFF 1.5 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I just placed an order and added a couple of other things. I don't even care if the lures are crappy colors. It is gonna be like christmas opening up the box and finding out what you got. For five bucks it's worth the excitement. You never know you might catch you PB on one of those lures, all lures will eventually catch something. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 It's not a good deal unless they are a good lures.I suspect they are NOT! The Lews rattler is a good bait, and you'll also probably get a BPS Deep Crank (which caught me 3 bass in one trip before I broke it off), a Square Lip BPS Crank, and a spinnerbait and jig of OK quality. The three cranks are worth it to me. I think BPS cranks are very under rated. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I really the BPS XPS cranks they are good quality and have always run true out of the box. I mainly fish those and mann's cranks, but I would prefer BPS. Does anyone know who makes the BPS cranks. Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hey all.... I saw this add in one of the BASS magazines. One thing.... When I click on the link, I don't see the secure "padlock" on the tool bar at the top. Maybe it appears when you check out??? Where does it say free shipping on anything else you order? If that's the case, it is a GREAT DEAL if you have other stuff you need. Be careful all!!! No "padlock"..no secure site! bassnajr Quote

ABC123 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Nope.I don't need five lures I will never fish, I already have a few...dozen(s)! : 8-) If you plan on ordering from BPS, then it's a great deal. Their base shipping charge is $4.95. If you order more than about $20 then they are starting to save you money. Could alway's donate the lure to the Salvation army, or Goodwill, then you would get a nice tax write off too boot. Quote
mayassa Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Just placed my order for primer for my boat and a couple lures and of course shipping = FREE stop complaining about the quality of lures, send them to me enjoy 5 dollar shipping! Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I would rather pay 20 bucks for a lure that is perfect running, durable finish, good colors, unique to pressured bass, strong lip that won't break if I feel like slapping weeds off, or whatever else I want/need for a particular application, body of water, or anything else. I would be mad if I wasted 5 dollars on that cheap junk and they gave me some ridiculous bubblegum or chartreuse color lure that has an ugly action, with hooks that will pull strait on a two pounder. Nothing like that would be of any use to me. It's a bad deal. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 im a sucker for free shipping so i think im gonna do it, hope the cranks are good, but mainly order for shipping. Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I wish I had the extra money to spend $20.00 on a lure...god bless you. I think it's more the fisherman than the lure anyway...IMO. I went out with my cousin end of the season and forgot my tackle bag!! I fished the whole day with a NASTY colored deep diver crank bait with rusty treble hooks from the bottom of his tackle box. Cousin 0 bass.....me 3 bass, one a 3 lber. And I'm no pro, far from it..believe me!!! PS Where does it say that it's $5.00 shipping for everything you order from BPS? Do you find out at check out? Thanks, bassnajr Quote
ABC123 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 PS Where does it say that it's $5.00 shipping for everything you order from BPS? Do you find out at check out? Thanks, bassnajr ???? Standard minimum shipping charge is $4.95. When you look at your cart, it shows the purchase total, then shipping charges, then the bill total. I don't know what the exact scale is, but the more you spend, the higher the shipping charge, until you reach $12.95 in charges. From there, it remains $12.95 shipping, unless there are other charges like $6 for longer rods, or truck charges for heavy items, ect.... Those are seperate charges though, if you bought a $30 7 foot rod, it would have the $6 charge just like a $200 rod. With this lure special, all you have to do is buy the $5 worth of lures, and your whole basic order is shipped free. I'm sure they still tack on the charges for oversized items and over weight items. crankybaits Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I bought these last year and they are all still in the original packaging, unopened. They wouldn't be bad for letting kids fish with though. Quote

WHATS YOUR POINT HERE?> When I buy and sell on the Flea Market and tubes longer than 5'8" are used they all charge extra ( From 4bucks postal to 5. and change to ups) why should it make a differenc what the rod costsa, when the vwendor is being charged shipping. So lets see i need 22 bucks worth of stuff and do not wnat to pay .495 in shipping so I spend a gallon iof gas bak and forth to the local store Six Bucks , plus sales tax lets say another .60 cents WOW thats good ecnomics I will spend 1.60 more because I dont want to get OVERCHARGED FOR SHIPPING Quote

I understand it's standard for retail stores to add on the $6 charge, but believe it or not, none of the 4 rods I bought over the 'Net had the added charge, they were included in the cost of the rod (different store). This also included a 15-20% discount on MSRP. Big time retail giants like Cabela's and BPS didn't get to be big out of luck, they know how to attract people with sales and "gimmicks". Part of the attraction of being a discount store is the fact you are able to set your own rules, and you can do things to undercut the big chain stores. Quote
