I bought a fenwick etech the other day. On the rod it says 7'2" strokin special. I got it on discount. What is the specific technique of this rod? They do not have this rod anymore on there website the cashire told me they went to a newwer style after this rod.

Thanks fer the info

"strokin" refers to a technique where you rip a fairly heavy jig (could also be a tube or other plastic) up off the bottom in fairly deep water to temp a reaction bite.  Usually used in summer time on off-shore structure.

So I'm guessing that rod is pretty stout.  Would probably also have an action suitable for a jigging spoon or blade bait or as a shorter heavy flippin' stick especially for close quarters like standing timber or for those that don't like the longer flippin' sticks.

Sure they do...

And if you Google it you get lots of stuff like...

"The stroking technique benefits from a special blank design that makes the tip rebound, then dampens quickly allowing the competitive angler more strokes per minute. Pro's know more strokes, like more casts, improve the chances to win. Soft touch paint on the back blank section of the rod reduces wear on an angler hands, resulting in less fatigue. This rod is cosmetically easy to identify when switching rods in a hurry, with a unique SS icon on the butt cap. The Texas rigged bait hook-keeper saves time re-rigging."
