Will it compete with his higher end rods.....NO Will it be better than other rods in the $100 price range.....possibly The $100 price range has become very competitive and just like in higher price ranges there are some rods that are better than others. And with the reputation that Loomis has I'd expect a rod that is better than a majority of rods in that price range. Just an opinion Capt.O Quote

Blank company that he has started. Now you have the TFO Gary Loomis Designed Rods. Guess he joins Bill Dance, Lefty Kreh, KVD, and a list of others capitalizing on the name. I Don't blame him. Wouldn't buy a rod because it has some guys name on it anyway. Has to be what I want. Quote

I thought this company from TEXAS might be a player in the 100.00 market until I picked the rods up. They are not US made. There is some serious name dropping going on here. The rods are attractive. They are a pretty MOJO in my opinion. They were heavy and the blanks were " dead " feeling, a low modulus material. This is one stick I would not buy on hype alone. If you think you're looking at a pre-Shimano Loomis influenced bank, think again. Just do your research before you lay out your cash. The new rods that made a statement are Lamiglas Excel, Dobyns Savvy and Okuma EVX. These companies did very well with new entries to the rod market. I just picked up my my last two Excels and like them alot. Quote

Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Temple Fork links their name to big names in the fishing industry, like Lefty Kreh and now Gary Loomis, in hopes to sell more rods because of the name written on them. Gary Loomis has very little to do with the rods themselves. Temple Fork's fly rods don't have a great reputation for quality, so a different rod in the $100 range is probably a safer bet. Quote

You are correct J Francho, they are not using a rod made by NFC. I just spoke with Brandon at Temple Fork and he told me the rod is made at their facility in Dallas,TX and Gary Loomis designed the blank for them from scratch. Quote
