zbigbadaaron Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Its price will be around $500. It is split grip also. http://tackletog.com/zander/2010/03/18/g-loomis-working-on-new-flagship-rod-offering-above-glx/ Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 They must feel like they are losing too much of the higher end market. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 I thought Shimano said they wouldn't be selling G.Loomis anymore? Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I'm sure they're going to be sweet! 8-) Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 G Loomis going to split grip. That sucks. I guess I will be sticking with my full grip GLX models. Maybe they will follow the Dodyns idea of having some full grip and some split grip. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 I thought Shimano said they wouldn't be selling G.Loomis anymore? Actually they said they wouldn't be selling Blanks to custom builders any longer... Shimano/Loomis is still producing rack rods for retail..... Many anglers still think that "The Man" has something to do with the old G-Loomis name, and nothing could be more futher from the truth. If your wondering what Gary Loomis is up to visit his Co's site.. http://www.northforkcomposites.com/ Tight Lines!!! Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 I wonder what kind of warranty it will have, lol. Quote
Madd Lunacy Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I can not imagine spending $500 on one rod. Crazy! Quote
jamarkwe Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I'f I was to spend $500 on a rod(which I would never) It would be a custom built rod just for me... 180 is the max I would ever spend on rod... 8-) Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 $500 for a shimano rod.not me.if i had the money i would get an american rodsmiths titanioum ultra. http://www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/H3Titanium/H3TitaniumUltra/tabid/137/Default.aspx Quote
NJAngler609 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 ill have one...probably sell my 844 to get it lol Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 21, 2010 Super User Posted March 21, 2010 I'm there... Definitely! That's some exciting news. A new domestic line going head-to-head with Megabass? Too cool... I hope G.Loomis continues to offer new and innovative rods under their new ownership. Shimano + Loomis = match made in heaven. ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 I've caught 1000's of fish both salt and fresh on Loomis and NEVER had one break on hook set. In fact, NEVER had one break on a fish. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 I hope they don't do all the new rods with split grip. I have never used split grip but imagine I wouldn't like it. Yes, I know I'm Mr. Negative >. Dang , I'm excited to get me a couple. And to think I just got another GLX Senko rod the other day . Quote
Bronzefly Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I'm excited about the new lineup - I'll definitely get my hands on one as soon as possible - and it has nothing to do with status, snobbery, or elitism. I fish for the sheer enjoyment of it. I use nice gear because I enjoy using it. I share my first hand experiences with my tackle in order to help guys make more informed decisions in their tackle purchases. It seems that this approach is more helpful to the forum than negative commentary having nothing to do with the original subject. By the way, Shimano has owned Loomis for about 13 years now. The BCR GLX rods, which are among the best out there, were produced well after the purchase occurred. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I own 30 G Loomis and I have never broken one (on a fish or for any other reason). If you treat a rod right, it won't break. Quote
Maico1 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Can't wait....Finally a Domestic with a warranty to compete with JDM. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 This thread got ugly fast... The original poster was alerting everyone about the announcement of a new Loomis series. All "off topic" posts and those referencing the posts have been removed. Please stay on topic. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator Quote
