demonjd22 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 So I want to relube/grease my Daiwa Exceler spinning reel. I found step by step directions with pics at http://www.scsurffishing.com/articles/reelmaintenance.htm I purchased this to use Abu Garcia Silicote Reel lube and also have gun oil. Am I good to go? Super User bilgerat Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 That tube is grease, which goes on the gears only. Bearings get one drop of oil. Be sure to thoroughly clean all of the parts, as even trace amounts of old lube will not be compatible with the new stuff. Acetone will clean the metal parts, use Simple Green and hot water to soak all of the other parts - no non metallic parts in the acetone ! Use a stiff bristle brush with the bristles trimmed to about 1/4" to apply grease to the gears. Use the brush to force the grease into the gear teeth. Don't over grease, the excess will be forced out on the first rotation and end up where it doesn't belong. Quote
