FishinTN Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Looking to get some braid, but still learning about it. Do all braids have a color residue that comes off and stains reels and boat sides? Read a article that it slowly rubs it's color off and stains reels and boats finishes. Would like to avoid that type of braid if possible, what are some things to consider when picking braid? :-? HoggBoss Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Just learning myself, I found this article helpful. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpremiumbraidroundup.html I went with the Sufix Performance (65Lb though). If I were looking for more of a finesse braid though I'd probably have to re-evaluate. Quote
ChrisAW Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I use Sufix Performance Braid. It lost some of its color, but it didn't stain anything as far as I know. Some braids will flatten out with use. The good kind will keep their round shape. Power Pro and Sufix both keep their shape as far as I've seen. Thats about all I can chime in for here. Quote
rmr00051 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I didn't get braid but I got some original fireline in the smoke color and it stained just about everything that it touched. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 try some izorline premium spectra braid , does not "bleed" like others . power pro is good also , but don't try the red colored braid , it bleeds like it was actually bleeding ;D Quote
Bayou Bass Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I had this happen really bad one time with moss green powerpro. However, I emailed them and they replaced the spool for me. I have been using powerpro for years and never had it bleed like this. In my experience brand new line, especially larger test, will leave some color on my hands but it goes away after a few uses. Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 I'm not fond of braid and don't use it much but the best I have used has been the Suffix, the color doesn't bleed like others, fireline is some of the worst I've seen . Quote
kikstand454 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 its been my experience that green power pro bleeds the least, if at all. yellow braid.... of all 4 types ive used... bleeds pretty bad. i use yellow powerpro for my saltwater topwater rod. its great. leaves yellow in my guides though. Quote

FishinTN Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Thanks guys, I think I'll try the suffix performance. Good price for what ya get. I liked the tackle tour review, and I think the suffix suits me better. Going to try the 50 lb., wish they could do something with the line color issue. I hate cleaning guides and etc any more often than I have to. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 Power Pro is the best!!! they used to be , but Izorline spectra and Tuf line xp are just as good if not better . Tuf line is the documented strongest braid out on the market Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 powerpro is outdated.diawa or fireline braids are the best .i prefer Quote
Super User South FLA Posted March 20, 2010 Super User Posted March 20, 2010 1. Daiwa Samurai 2. Stren's Superbraid if you can still get it 3. Suffix 4. Powerpro, unless its the one with higher braid count, then its up to 3. Quote
