Kowen117 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 What is this I saw them at BPS and those things are tiny it looks like it doesn't have any guides at all!! Any way has anybody tried them? Are they worth the 50 extra? Quote
hmongkidBee Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 micro guides are a nice. They actually cast farther than regular fishing poles with the normal sized guides, even the concept style guides. It was the traditional guides, then came the concept style. Now micro guides are a new thing, well not really new, but you get the idea. Anyways although I haven't used any carrot stix because I wrap custom rods, I did wrap a few rods using micro guides, and while testing them, they do outcast my other poles. So is it worth the extra $50? that's if you've got some money to spend. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 micro guides are an excellent component to a rod . you will see more companies start to use them . ALOT of custom builders are using them , actually alot of them are using them for almost all of their builds . it even gets better when you incorporate them with a spiral wrap Quote

Bayou Bass Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 This will be my third spiral wrap casting rod, but my first with micro guides. I am pumped!! Quote
Super User David P Posted March 19, 2010 Super User Posted March 19, 2010 I didn't know Carrot Stix had micro guides now.. I know the new Boyd Ducket rods do. Only thing to keep in mind, is if you use braid with a fluoro leader, it might not work out all too well. The Dobyns rods use a pretty small guide, although larger then the Micros, and it's just about the smallest possible for my leader to braid knot to still get through. Can't imagine it work with the micro guides. Just something to think about. Other then that, they look pretty cool, and are supposed to cast further like others have said. Quote
brushhoggin Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 how are they just now figuring out smaller guides = farther casting? Quote
