Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Haven't used it on the water yet, but Fisherman's Factory Outlet has (if any left) the Fenwick Techna AV on closeout for less than $115. Searching the site, I found $25 off that I applied to my purchase. Rod before shipping was less than $89. This rod lists for $220. Most all of the feedback I got said this was a fantastic rod at the $115 price. Hope to fish it this weekend. That and the new Field & Stream rod that just came out at Dick's. This is a $60 rod. Check out this thread on it. http://www.tackletour.net/TTForums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=48602 I am going to be looking at the Lamiglas Excel, Dobyns Savvy, B&R Outlaw, Compre, Crucial, St. Croix Premier when slush funds become available. I'd love one of the better Dobyns, GLoomis, etc., but only way that MIGHT every be possible would be the used market route. Quote
BassThumb Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Finding a nice used Loomis, St. Croix, or Dobyns on fishing site flea markets. Be patient and you'll find some steals. Quote
Hook Set Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 For the money, hard to beat a Powell IMHO. Best drop shot rod I've ever owned, and I have a lot of rods! Quote
bigfruits Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 i recommend: st. croix, falcon, fenwick, shimano, rogue heard good things about: dobyns, powell, all-star, kistler i like a sensitive rod for worm/jig. for $150 you should be able to find a St. Croix Avid or save up a little more and get Loomis IMX or GLX on sale. lightsout Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 falcon bucoo 7' heavy. $110 X100 Great rod, fishes more like a MH. In my experience it's the best you can do at that pricepoint. The powell's in that price range are awesome as well. Check out TT's review. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Great deal on an Avid in our Flea Market: $105 AVC70MHF shipped! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1268924616/0#0 ;D ;D ;D Quote
BassThumb Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Good eye. I would jump on it if I didn't already own that rod. Perfect for heavy spinnerbaits, but it makes a good jig and worm rod, too. Quote
