Anybody have one? I saw one today that has dual breaking, seemed pretty smooth, a lil on the heavy side, but that doesnt concern me to much. Those who have or have used them whats your view/take.

I've been using one for a couple of years now. It's a good reel, but not what I'd call a great reel. It requires a little more TLC as far as cleaning and lubing to keep it smooth and casting well. As far as the dual braking, I just set the centrifugal brakes with 2 on and the mag break at 0. It is fairly light and palms well. To me, this reel should not have priced at $160-$170, maybe around $120, that's about what I payed for mine new.

I really wanted a revo stx the local place had them on clearance for 125.99 and I missed out. I want a nice Dual break reel with 7.1 for around 130. The summit was 139 had 7.1. I could get a carbon lite if the drags are interchangeable.

PFL SUMMIT LP 100 yards / 12 Lb. 7.1:1 7.8 oz Standard Right Medium Freshwater

if 7.8 oz is heavy you need to go to a gym.great reel to buy imho.

Great reel IMO.  Its light, smooth, casts good and fits in the palm well.  Its also very durable.  I think I bought mine the first year they came out and still have and it still works like new.  Only downfall is the 7.1 gear ratio.  I wish they would have offered something else.

I picked one up the year they were released via a buddy at pro-staffer price. It's been my jerkbait reel.  They cast well and there isn't a reel that is much easier to palm.  It's held up very well.  If that 79 dollar deal is for real it's a buy. My local tackle shop had one day deal on Revo S righties for 69.97.  That's a deal !

Can you check if they are still at that price? I live no where near one, but for that price I would buy it if somebody would ship it to me.

Aren't they basically an Asaro with dual braking? If that's the case, order a gear set for an Asaro (6.4:1) and swap them out.

ETA: Or you could buy the Asaro I have listed in the Flea Market... ;D

I have a Summit.  Nice reel.  The weight doesn't bother me as I work out a gym to prevent having limp wrists that might make a .5 oz difference in weight seem like a brick.   ;)

I've always wanted a Summit but never got one.  They seem like pretty nice reels.  I have a Supreme that is a great reel so I'm sure the Summit isn't far behind.

I was told its a step under the patriarch.

It is now, the supreme casting reel was discontinued last year I think.  Different design and profile than the Summit, close to the old President.
