rebeav Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Just a brief update on Falcon Customer Service. I replied to a Which Crankbait Rod post on here. I received a Cara 7'3" Deep Diver special for Xmas. I used the rod and it wasn't casting a DD-22 as well as it should have. I fished with it for just a few casts on three separate trips. I sent this rod in March 1 and paid extra for delivery to Falcon by March 3 in hopes I would get it back March 5. I contacted them via email them to see if they had received the rod (no biggie). They confirmed they had received it and said that they didn't see anything wrong with it. They asked what the problem was and I replied back letting them know that I wasn't getting distance and that I noticed my reels were cocked to the side or not aligned properly when placed in the reel seat. There was no reply Friday, Monday, or Tuesday. I called and spoke with the warranty representative today and he said he didn't see anything wrong with it and neither did his boss. He had looked down the eyes and everything. I didn't notice it either until I put new line on one of my Revo Premiers and had it facing away from me. Anyway he was begrudgingly gonna run it by his boss once more and see what he said. I would have no problem with this you know if they didn't see anything wrong with it but LET ME KNOW SOMETHING. Emails work both ways. I know they may be loaded to the hilt with other problems but take care of one at a time. Don't treat me like I am trying to get over on you. I felt resistance on their behalf. Customer service should to wanna help (or give the impression) instead of resisting to do the same. I told him - I will put it on eBay and be done with it as well as the other 3 Falcons I have purchased recently. I guess I will wait and see. Wonder if they will pay the extra shipping to get it back. I am a professional fishing tackle buyer and wanna be professional fisherman (lol). I have been leaning towards the Falcons and Shimano's to finish upgrading for this year. I have 2 IMX's, 3 Crucials, and 4 Falcons. Carrot Stix and All Stars are gone now I have to see how this goes before I give up but it ain't looking pretty. Am I over reacting?? Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 11, 2010 Super User Posted March 11, 2010 Am I over reacting?? No. Quote
Fishaholic7lbs Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I got some falcons but ain"t had no problems. U sad u bout some IMX's so just replace them falcons with GLOOMIS Quote
Bass Pro Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Are you sure that the reel isn't the problem and not the rod? If it was truly a problem with the rod, but was only noticeable when you put the reel on it, then you need to make sure you let them know that. Tell them to put a reel on it. Quote
rebeav Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 I put 2 of my reels on the rod. I already had the Revo on it when I noticed it. I played with rod seat to see if it was just me. Then I put a Chronarch SF on it and you could really tell. The main thing is if they don't think its messed up email / call and say we didn't notice anything with the rod, and then send it back. I wasn't asking for refund or an exchange. I have 3 Lowriders and haven't had any problems out of them. I like them but this Cara had something going on. He said they put a reel on it did they cast it or not and look at it from all angles dunno. I would like to think. I bought my first IMX here and received another for Xmas. When I fished a tournament in January I used them, a crucial, and some Falcons. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the Crucial and the Loomis. I ended up breaking the tip off of the Loomis after getting hung up under a duck blind. The bait pulled free and the rod slapped the calon and that was that. I sent them 50 bucks and got a new one in less than a week. I like them but not ready to make the total change over. I like the Crucials especially for what I paid for it. I'll call tomorrow morning and get an update. Quote

Super User skunked_again Posted March 11, 2010 Super User Posted March 11, 2010 ive never thought to send a rod in because i wasnt getting the casting distance i wanted. id think that the reel not sitting in the seat correctly would drive me nuts from the first cast and i assume id notice that in the store. another good reason to store fish rods before you buy them. Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 11, 2010 Super User Posted March 11, 2010 i don't think you are , i demand to get good customer service from a company that i am giving my hard earned money to > if i don't get it , i no longer buy their products , no matter how good they are !! i hope everything works out for you :-/ Quote
bmadd Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I had an older Cara with a broken guide. I decided to use the trade-up program they offer. I wanted to pay the difference with my card. They said fine, just cut it in half and write down what model I want and they'll call me for my card info when they get it. Long story short, three days after my delivery confirmation I decided to give them a call. They said my new rod was packed up and ready to ship. Why didn't I get a call? No idea. Still good people to deal with though. Quote
RichF Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 You should look into powell rods. The customer service is by far the best I've ever experienced. Quote
ksdog Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Yes....Powell has great customer service.....Falcon not so. My experience. Quote
tradequities Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 dont think you're overreacting at all.. ditch the company that doesnt treat you like they should and go with one that does.. seems like powell has a good rep.. i've had very good customer service experiences with kistler and powell Quote
rebeav Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Well I haven't received a call or an email letting me know what the BOSS thinks about the rod. Maybe they actually took it fishing. So I am going to call in a few minutes and see what the deal is. I am thankful for message boards like this just because it provides a little back up. After I am done I am going to email them a link to this post and hopefully they'll realize that by messing with one guy they are actually messing with a bunch of bass fishing when they should be working tackle buying hamburger helper eating folks (I am going to wait until I get my rod back first 8-). We shall see and thanks again for replying. Here we go! Quote
rebeav Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 I am a professional fishing tackle buyer and wanna be professional fisherman (lol). How do you become one these?! No need to be in a rush young man. It just happens and when it does she'll let you know. Why does it happen? You run out of the one and only thing they'll bite is one of the main culprits (did he say Culprit.....see!). You'll be able to look back at the times you were going for one color and bought every variation of that color in the same bait plus the size above and below it. Or other times when you said they wouldn't bite this so I am gonna buy this. It just happens lol How do you become one these?! ;D Quote
SimonSays Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Take a picture of the rod, reel and line next time. Send it with the rod to show what the problem is and that should cut down on all the back and forth. Quote
rebeav Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 You are exactly right! Pics would have been obviously a wise idea. I haven't claimed to be the smartest in the world. I just figured it was obvious with a reel and they would see it! There wasn't any back and forth it was me contacting them to 1) see if they received it 2) to see if they had a chance to check it out 3) to call back to see if the BOSS had checked it out. Anyways they couldn't find anything "going on" with it and "We're just gonna have to ship it back to you." That's fine and dandy why can't you call me or email me as soon as you come to this conclusion. Send it back as soon as you reach this conclusion and I'm good. Keep an eye out for some Falcons for sale next week folks. I am going to track down my packaging slip from December (IMX / Cara) and see if Tackle Warehouse will take it back and if not I am going to keep it because I can't sell the rod knowing what I know about it. Again thanks! Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 It does not sound like you are over reacting. Besides, nothing wrong with getting your equipment checked. If you say hear a noise on your car that sounds weird, are you going to keep driving it around until something breaks? I have dealt with Falcon in the past, and they were great to talk with. But, it sounds like you are over Falcon rods so, sell them off and be done with them. Quote
yamisoez Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Yeah, lol. I've been buying at the Pro level for years now. Quote
rebeav Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 I work in North Texas and will hopefully be home Monday. I'll be sure to take and post pictures. I will no doubt have to call Monday and see when it will be shipped. I'm sure I'll have to pay another 21 bucks to get it back but that's fine. Just send it back!! I will update and post pics after I do get it back. Then it will be over. Falcon has been doing business a long long time and in order to that they have been doing something right besides building quality rods. I have seen a lot of posts lately regarding returns & warranted products. I am disappointed at how my ordeal has turned out and could understand if it was a ten dollar rod from Fred's or Dollar General Store. Thanks for the replies - Ryan professional fishing tackle buyer Quote
rebeav Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 Emailed Falcon Sunday night and received a reply saying New rod had been shipped. Da Da the end! Quote
