Reelin Wahoo Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Hey guys, I recently just purchased a Quantum Escalade baitcasting reel and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I recognize that it is a store specific model and probably lacks the warranty other reel models offer. I have found through my searching online that it is hard to get any consistent reviews of reels <$150. Some people love it, some hate it. An alternative would be to return it and get an Abu Garcia Silver Max. This is my first baitcaster and I am constrained monetarily so I am trying to keep it in this range. Any input would be great. Thanks, Evan Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 What really matters is what you think of the reel. It appears to be a decent entry level BC. You can find conflicting opinions of even the highest priced top of the line reels on the market. Fish it, enjoy it, and take note of what you like or don't like, and then look for models with those characteristics when you upgrade ( if you do). Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 15, 2010 Super User Posted March 15, 2010 looks like a rebranded "code" -http://www.***.com/Quantum_Code_Casting_Reels/descpage-QCDR.html Quote

nubasser Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I cannot give a review but I've used some of the(store brand reels and they perform quite well.)If ir performs 1/2 as good as it looks it should be fine.If you take care of it by lubing the bearings with oil{one drop each)and a drop or 2 on the worm gear. And break it down and clean it when needed. It will serve you very well for a long time. Also you will want to back off the drag completely when you get back from fishing and re tighten it to where you want it at the start of each trip. Then after using it let us know what you think of the reel. this is just a summary of what I've learned from these other fine posters here. What rod are you gonna put it on? Quote
stratos 283 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 i have owned two.had problems with both. they worked fine for about eight months before they acted up. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The escalades have had issues... but the silver max's do as well. The best bang for the buck, that is cheap, would be one of the bass pro reels when they are on sale. The only other thing is spend a lil extra money and get a revo s, revo orra(if u use a right handed reel), or a citica. Quote
