RWHusker. Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 We still have ice but I've got the cleaning bug and have a few questions and your help is greatlly appreciated. 1. How long is mono good that has been stored in fairly good conditions. (Inside in the winter and in dark plastic tubs in the summer) Same question with PLine Floroclear? 2. I have a butt load of Vanish 12lb, 17lb. Is it just crap that needs to be tossed? 3. Is it worth rebuilding old spinnerbaits? Thanks in advance and GO BIG RED! Quote
Fat-G Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Throw away the Vanish AND the Floroclear. Mono lasts a pretty long time. Buy new spinnerbaits. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 13, 2010 Super User Posted March 13, 2010 If you don't want the Vanish, send it to me. I'll pay the shipping. Quote
bear7625 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I can understand changing line that has been on a reel, we all do it. I was curious, so I looked on a package of line to see if there was a date as far as shelf life. I guess my question would be, Is there a shelf life on fishing line? If so, how do you know how long line has been sitting in a store? I can't imagine a local tackle store replacing old inventory. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted March 13, 2010 Super User Posted March 13, 2010 I think you will be much happier and feel much more secure buying new line and spinnerbaits. 8-) Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 You can always use line as balast under your new premium line of choice. Find a kid who wants to bass fish and gift him your old spinnerbaits if they have some use left in them. Same goes for any fishing gear. They won't forget your kindness. Quote
RWHusker. Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Roadwarrior I tend to agree and have in the past and thats why I have the collection. Struggle to throw stuff away. Flippin I've put 2 tackle boxes together from the carry over for a couple of boys at church. The spinners are just in tough shape and was wondering about rebuilding them. I made 2 out of about 9 bad ones and put them in the tackle boxes. Quote
