1234567 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 What is the largest monofilament line that can be put on a Curado 201 E5 and still have good castability and be easily managed. I would like to go 20-25# range. What are the most reliable monofilament lines in your opinions? Thanks for all the input!!!! Quote
hmongkidBee Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I love berkley trilene big game mono. I think it's better if you use the curado 301E for heavy mono in the 20-25lb range. But I think that 10-17lb line would be perfect for the curado. I have the 200E7 that I use for weightless and texas rigged plastics and I spooled it with 14lb seaguar invizx and it works great for me. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted March 8, 2010 Super User Posted March 8, 2010 cajun red cast 20 lb test.any stronger than that and i would go to braid. Quote

Thanks for all the input!!!! sounds like you might want to throw big swimbaits on this reel , if that's the case , you bought the wrong reel : you should of got a curado 300 or if you want a smaller framed low-profile baitcaster , you should of got a REVO winch or a REVO inshore . you won't get much 25 lb. mono or co-poly on that curado 200 , maybe 60-65 yards ..... hmongkidBee Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 use invizx. Trust me you will be happy you did. Quote

1234567 Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 haha, funny you mention that as I was just looking at the 300 model and I think I am getting that next. I have another reel I have spooled up for my 8 inch huddlestons with Seaguars 25# flouro on it. The problem I have now is that when these bigger bass (7-8+) get buried in the weeds I have alot of problems getting them out. It seems that the fish are more weary of the powerpro I am using so I am switching back to mono. I really thought about flourocarbon but I am afraid that if I backlash, looking at some of the kinks that get in there I think it could compromise the integrity of the line???? I don't know maybe someone here could tell me otherwise? I was thinking more along the lines of 20# big game or 25# seeing the difference in diameter between the two is only .001 in size. Maybe that makes a big difference, I don't know. Appreciate all the help. Quote
smallwatermayhem Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 That Curado will handle anything from 10lb to 15lb mono great. But, 25lb mono? No way. You shouldn't need that high of a line unless you're pitchin n flippin. If you really do need that high of a line, go with 30lb or 40lb braid. My favorite line that works good for all-around fishing is Stren. But for braid, go with PowerPro. Quote
