Bayou Bass Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Have a chance to get a steez for a good price, but I was wondering if I should keep it or sell for a Core. This is my first venture into the high-end reel arena. Up to this point I have been using curados and citicas almost exclusively. I guess this is why I am considering the core also. What are your thoughts on these reels? How do they compare to each other? I will be using it for fishing texas rigged plastics (normally 1/4oz tungsten) with 15lb fluorocarbon. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 9, 2010 Super User Posted March 9, 2010 Do you prefer centrifugal or magnetic braking systems? Quote
dmat Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 This is my take... The Steez feels a little larger in hand, a little smoother and a little more refined. I use the Steez for cranks and the Core for most everything else so I can't compare apples to apples...however with the Steez I can cast cranks further than any other reel I have used for cranking. They do cast quite a bit different to me so if I have been using my Shimanos for a while and then pick up the Steez it sometimes takes a few casts to get used to it. May not make a difference for pitching though. They are both excellent reels and you can't go wrong with either in my opinion. If I were in your shoes it would probably depend on how good the price for the Steez is hope this helps Don Quote
Bayou Bass Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 I have mainly been using the Curado 200E7 and the Citica 200E so whatever breaks they have is what I am used to. Thats not to say I prefer that type of breaking system, I am simply accustomed to it. Quote
Madd Lunacy Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I got to take my new core 50mg out for the first time this weekend and was shocked at how well it casted. It will launch a 5" weightless senko a mile and half. I haven't caught anything on it yet, so I don't know how it handles a fish, but I'm sure it will preform just fine. I have never fished with a steez so I can't coment on that reel. Quote

I own three Curados, three Citicas and one Core 50. Only difference between them is that as the price goes up, they get more smooth and free. Quote
