BASS33470 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Im wondering what would be the best pitching rod to get for $250 or less. I will be using it for medium grass type situations fishing around reeds. I was looking at the Daiwa Zillion and the Dobyns Champion Flipping Rods but I'm just not sure. If you recommend any others please let me know. Im going to put a Revo SX on it if that matters. Thanks. Quote
Rich Tehan Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Idk about the flippin rod, but I use a Dobyns 704C (7' H, fast action) for pitchin. It is an awesome rod, very sensitive and very light weight. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 6, 2010 Super User Posted March 6, 2010 in my opinion one of the best flipping rods are the Phenix super flipping rods , namely the 7'11" med heavy . it has a strong back bone is very light for a rod it's length . would be perfect for medium grass and punching mats , pads , and tulies . http://www.***.com/Phenix_Super_Flipping_Rods/descpage-PSFR.html Quote
flipinstick88 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I use a St. Croix LTBC73MHF; I love it! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 6, 2010 Super User Posted March 6, 2010 Thanks, any more suggestions. Glutton for punishment are we? ;) ;D ;D I'm always looking for advice on cutting down my choice, not increasing it, ;D ;D :) Quote
Triton20XSD Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I use a 7'1" G. Loomis Mossyback 854 (heavy power, fast action) paired with a Shiman Curado. I was using 15# P-Line CXXX-strong but I am switching to 65# power pro this year. Quote
Super User David P Posted March 6, 2010 Super User Posted March 6, 2010 Dobyns 735 Or 765 depending on your length preference. I prefer the 765 if I'm fishing around heavier cover personally. Quote

Triton20XSD Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 No problem. I have the Mossyback in both the 853 & 854 (md heavy & heavy). Really like both rods. I use the 854 for heavier weeds and the 853 with with 12# fluoro for jigs and lighter flipping applications. Quote
