Mojo Bass Rods

I seem to like these rods and they fit into my budget too. What do you think of them?

I have 3 BC reels, so if I were to pair them up with Mojo rods what would you reccommend? The reels I have are a 6:3:1, 6:4:1, and a 7:1:1. I like to throw buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, senkos, lipless cranks, swimbaits, and frogs. What Mojo rods would you pair with the above reels with the above baits to get the best results? I hope my questions make sense?

Honestly I would look into other rods at that price point. You can get a much better rod for the $.

I bought into the hoopla when they were released (I really dig the look of the rods), and have been disapointed with the sensitivity, balance, and quality (guide insert popping out). Several people have complented the look of it, but looks don't catch fish.

I have been nothing but impressed with the 7'H falcon bucoo I have. I purchased it mainly for spinnerbaits / buzzbaits / jigs and couldnt be happier.

I like these rods alot I hace the spinnerbait,plastics,crankbait,pitchin,and topwater have never had any trouble with any of them abuddy has a loomis mossyback in a 7' 3'' med action extra fast tip that I've fished some the mojo plastics is close to it being a 7' med action fast tip and I can't tell very much difference if any between them the spinnerbait rod throws spinner very well the plastics rod will throw a light t rig senko or fluke a mile the crankbait rod is rated as a med-hvy rod but looks more like a med and is the lightest rod I have in the series and really whips a crank bait out there as far as frogs go they have a frog and slop rod in the series that is a heavy power but haven't seen one of them nor the swimbait rod for large swimmers

I have one and really like it. The ONLY thing that people don't like about it, is that it is a little tip heavy. It doesn't really bother me, but for you it might. Sensitivity wise it won't get much better in the 100 dollar range. I use mine for light t-rigs and it works great.

I'd use a 7.1 for the spinnerbaits/buzzbaits/lipless cranks, and frogs.

I have the 7' tube and grub spinning rod. i too found that the rod is tip heavy but i've found a solution for that. Bass pro sells balancing system called "The Balancer "it comes with three weights and the cap that goes over the butt of the rod.my rod used just one weight to balance it.

I'll admit that they look awesome, but as far as performance others outshine the Mojo. I have a couple Lamiglas Excels and have been very pleased. As a bonus, Excels are made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty (Mojo made in Mexico, 5 year warranty).

Mojo's are not junk.  They are decent rods. I tried the top water and spinner bait models last year.  You can find a better option at that price point. I have to agree with NorCal and I too added several Excels to my arsenal and have three more on order. If you like the Mojo and are comfortable with it, buy it. If you have the time, research some of the other models out there before you make your final choices.  BTW, I have seen Mojos at 89.99 on the shelf.

I like my mojos. I have 1 spinning and 1 casting. I think in that price range it's a very good rod, as is the Bucoos, and vendettas. I would like to try the excels, just none in my area to handle.

I think it will boil down to your own preference. They all have small differences even amoung the same actions(techniques). You might like a certain mojo model, and prefer a bucoo for some other technique.

I picked up a mojo 7' m/f tubes and grubs for $70.00 brand new. Haven't put it in the water yet, but i like the feel of it.

i feel the same way is that there alot better rods for the money , mojo's are down right clunky compared to the other sub $100 dollar rods that have come out recently ....

I really like the medium power mojos thier light and sensitive. The heavier models are a bit clunky.

I think they're decent rods, but if you're paying MSRP, you're not quite getting your money's worth.  At a discount?  You could do a lot worse with $75-90.  That said, I won't be buying any more Mojos.  They're the first rod series from St. Croix that I own that that I'm disappointed with.

I own 2 Mojos, a 7' MH crankbait & 6'6" MH jig-n-worm.

I also own the same sizes and actions in the Avid series.

Yes, the heavier actions are a little tip heavy but I still get great sensitivity and feel from the Mojos. I cant justify telling anyone not to buy these rods.  8-) St. Croix stands behind their stuff too. The crankbait rod is sooooo good for larger cranks. The 6'6" MH would be a great all around rod for those lookn for a good mid-priced rod.

i just feel , and i said this in another post a week or so ago , that St.Croix could of made this rod really stand out with alot better guides and charged a couple of dollars more and people would of payed it and not complained . even Pac-Bay guides with the hard chrome inserts would have made this rod alot better , St. Croix should re-do this rod for 2010 or it will be passed up by the other rods in the $100.00 price range ......

You gotta give St. Croix some props, They started a movement in the rod industry to make a decent quality rod at an affordable price. We all win with the options out there in front of us. What a competitive market. Some other companies just raised the bar further, Just wait for a year and see what else shows up.

I have two Mojos. One casting and one spinning that I purchased from a member here. For 120.00 bones for the two, including shipping, pretty tough to beat. I really like them both.

I have the 7ft spinner bait casting rod and I love it...yes it is a little tip heavy but it doesn't bother me.... The guides have performed very well while using 50lb briad for a season IMO....I love fishing spinner baits so this rod has been used a abused a lot, and it took it like a champ..... I also use the rod for pitchin jigs in medium to heavy cover and it gets the fish to the boat fast... 8-)

I would like to add that the tip heaviness isn't just with the mojo rods. Buddy of mine has a legend tournament 7' tube rod and that is as unbalanced as the mojo rod.

I used a cabelas coupon...$20. off-$100. purchace. the mojo was marked at $ 90. and spent another  $10. in senkos
