Same bait, same factory, as many of the "knock offs" ;)

am i the only one that likes eagle claw hooks?

I use them fishing for bluegills and trout, on the rare occasion that happens any more.

I havent had any issues with them at all.

Posted

Berkley Gulp - All I ever caught with them are catfish

Citco Gas

Any infomercial products

Any product advertised Billy Mays (more obnoxious than my mother in law)

Most products indorsed by Roland Martin

The double barbed Lazer Eagle Claw offset hooks aren't bad at all.

Now that I bought Owners and fished with them I just can't go back.  8-)

Stren Ive tried different models and all but same bad results and I used triline smooth casting for a little while but it breaks off alot.

I dont buy booyah spinnerbaits anymore good color options but the hooks seem to dull out fast and the frame bends sometime I just go with the terminater S.S. if I'm looking for a spinnerbait in that price range.

mitchell reels - i bought a 300XGe last year, didn't even spool it with line before i took it back and returned it for a pflueger president about 2 hours later. the mitchell had a nice metal-on-metal grinding noise that just didn't appeal to me. could have been just that one, but i'm not about to waste my money to find out if all of them do it.

berkley vanish - terrible for knots. absolutely terrible. used it for about a week, took RW's advice on the yo-zuri and haven't looked back.

spiderwire braid - i only use power pro now. spiderwire can EABOD.

cajun line is the biggest thing of BS ive seen in a while

gotta dissagree.cajun red cast is awesome.

ive never used it and dont plan to but as far as casting, durability and so on i dont know anything about it but the idea that red line will "disapear"is a gimick. for my money id rather buy sufix in smoke green thats gona blend with the water and is a great all around line

I am boycotting speaking with my brother-in-law, a retard at best.

Bummer.

LOL maybe our brother-in-laws are related. Mine is also a retard, and a retard that is drunk 24-7 on top of that.

But back to fishing related products:

BPS XPS hooks, 2/3 of the EWG Bulk pack I bought a few years ago had poorly formed eyes, and all of them dulled after 1 fish.

Chatterbaits: besides beeing over hyped, the are poorly made, Booyah Boogie baits are much better IMHO

Any thing made by Storm except Wiggle Warts and chug bugs

Stren line

Abu Garcia and Quantum spinning reels, love both brands casting reels, but there spinning reels  ;)

Pflueger casting reels, same as above only reverse, I almsot use Pflueger spinning reels exclusivly, but there lack of small frame LH casting reels is rediculous

Any product endorsed on a TV info-mercial

I have to agree with Dodgeguy on Red Cast. IMO, people buy Red Lightning which is totally different from Red Cast and don't like it.

%100 correct

it's not a gimmick.study underwater photography and you will find out it's far from a gimmick.i have posted numerous links that prove it to be true.if you do a search you can find them.red is the first color to disappear and blend in with the water color.you need a red filter to photograph it and see it after this happens.bass do not have red filters on their eyes.

Thanks for the heads-up Davis, but I'm not sure it would make a whole lot of sense ordering *** when they cost $3.00 per 10 pack + shipping to Canada. I can get Yum Dingers here for $3.85 for the 12 pack of 5" :-/.

Funny, I caught my PB on a booya jig with a YUM beaver trailer, and I've always used those eagle claw's snell hooks for surf fishing and never had a problem.

I think the only boycott here is against overpriced tackle  ;D

The only thing I'd refuse to buy would be a BPS brand boat.

Nitro

Tracker

Tahoe

I've seen too many bad experiences by others to ever invest a dime into those tubs.

There are way too many fishing products out there that I simply won't buy because they are cheaply made.

About the only plastics I won't buy ever, are the 3x type "stretchy" baits.

they work, but down here in the florida heat they turn into a puddle of goo.

I won't buy any reel that doesn't say "Daiwa" on it.   We fun alot on the boards about these things, but the truth is that there are alot of good reels out there.  I use Daiwa exclusively because I like the way they feel.

the only rods I use are the higher end Loomis and St. Croix.  again,, lot's of good rods out there, but I know these brands very well and so have a pretty good idea how they will perform for me.

Yep,,,,,I'm pretty closed minded about rods and reels, but I love trying out new lures.  Price is not an object for me one way or the other.  I have inexpensive lures that catch alot of fish.  RatLtraps are a good example, just change out the hooks.............oh and speaking of hooks, I think a quality hook is worth it's weight in gold.  You can be fishing with a thousand dollar outfit but if the hook won't stick and stay stuck your wasting your time.   I use owner hooks almost exclusively.. That cutting point is a mean mutha.

One other thing.... like most of us I love topwaters.   The lobina rico has something about it that the fish really like.   It is the only popper I ever used where I have had bass launch clear out of the water and dive down on the bait mouth first.  I was absolutely dumbstruck the first time I saw this.  It has happened more than once, but only with a rico.

About the only post in this thread with multiple products that I agree with 95%.  95% because I've only used the Yellow Magic, and not the Rico...so I can't lend an opioion.  I'm not stroking anyone's ego here...Avid has given me a hard time more than once on this forum  ;):)

I stay away from Mann's, Storm, Gulp!, Matzuo Cranks (spinnerbaits are first rate), Yum/Riverside, Renegade, Lucky Strike, Berkley Frenzy, and anything Roland Martin endorses.

I would like to add Norman Lures to that list - I have not gotten one that runs true from the box yet, and many are completely un-tunable...

Also Yo-Zuri Hybrid line.  I keep trying it because everyone swears by it, but it kinks and snaps on me every single time I use it.

You are so right about those Norman lures.  Never again for me either. Junk out of the box.
