What is the true strength of this stuff? Is it really 8lb test or is that more a diameter measurement. Like flurocarbon will have 30 pound test that is the diameter equivalent of like 10 or so. Is this truly 8lb test?

I think you're confusing fluoro with braid.  Braid is typically 1/3 the diameter of equivalent strenght mono.  Fluoro is only a little bit smaller in diameter than mono.  8 lb test should brake at 8lbs pressure or greater.

i believe that P-line does not make a 8 lb. braid , what i think it is is that your thinking of 30 lb. braid that has the diameter of 8 lb. mono . a very good braid size for light flipping , frogging in grass , carolina rigs , etc.. it goes good with a 10-12 lb. test mono or floro leader tied with a uni-to-uni knot . i use 30 lb. braid for pretty much throwing frogs and other top water baits . that Spectrex iv is some nice braid , pretty much the same as Power pro and Izorline spectra braid .... ;)

I guess to rephrase: what is the mono equivalent of 8lb power pro braid? I know braid is way stronger than mono.

1 lb. mono !!!! ( .005") pretty much like sewing thread  ;D

I believe a sheet of paper measures in the neighborhood of .003/.004 thick.  We are taking THIN here!

a good line for bluegill and maybe perch , for crappies , i think you would be wise to go up to 15 lb. power pro . for bass fishing , that is walking a fine line ( ;D ;D ;D) and would not recommend that thin of line . that size line will REALLY dig into your spool , even a spinning reel !!! what do you plan on using it for ???
