Which rod for Guntersville hydrilla?

Im in the market for a heavy action rod to fish the weeds on Lake Guntersville. I will be fishing mostly weightless plastics and topwater with this rod so i need one that can cast light baits, but still has the backbone to rip bass out of the weeds. Ive been looking at the Daiwa Zillion, Gloomis imx, St.Croix Legend Tournament, and the Shimano Cumara all in 7' to 7'6". Do yall have any preferences between these rods, or know of a better rod suited to this application? thanks

If you're gonna be throwing topwater a lot the one you definitely shouldn't get is the St. Croix...it is very tip heavy and uncomfortable imo.

I got a really good deal on a 7' heavy action imx and I paired it with my chronarch 100d7, it is really light and balanced out really well. My vote is for the imx out of those, but I am sure there are much better options out there.

right now its not that bad but everyday that grass will get thicker and thicker ,,,,,,i fish that lake about 10 days a month and ive fell in love with with kistler argon heavy rods they are stiff enough to pull fish outs that grass but light and flexible at tip for excellent casting as well

As much as I LOVE that rod, it's a Medium action, only made in GLX, and would get eaten alive on Guntersville in the slop ;D

Ranger10 - I think you'd enjoy using an MBR 844 IMX.  Paired up with the right reel and line, you can still toss your lighter plastics - buzzfrogs perhaps?  If you wanted to go longer, the Shimano Cumara CUCX711MH (extra fast version) is also a great rod for traps in the grass, buzzfrogs, etc. around the grass as well.  Good luck!

Ive got one of the rods you mentioned.  The 7'H Cumara.  This isnt my choice for weightless plactics, however its my topwater rod and it is excellent.  Like RW said, for weightless plastics I like a stiffer tip, I use a Medium Xfast to detect the subtle thump of a bass sucking it in.    With the moderate fast tip on the Cumara however, you should still be able to cast relatively light baits, although I havent tried it.
