I dont know how to use this rod!

A few months ago i purchased an HMG for $50!! Yea it was a sweet deal, but im starting to wonder when i can use it. It is a 7' MH (doesnt say the action on it). I was hoping i could use it as my frog/pitching rod, but i havent got one response back saying i should. I dont know what to do because i want a versital setup and a frog rod/pitching setup and i dont know if this fits either.

A 7', MH rod is one of the most versatile rods in the world of bass fishing.  It will make a great pitchin' stick.

Gotta agree with Burley.  Take it out and fish it.  MH rods vary in action from maker to maker.  Outside of my spinning rigs, every rod in my boat is a MH action except for one Cranking rig.

It may be to stiff/heavy for smaller crankbaits and finesse situations.  Although it may not be the best for other techniques, it will probably work well for most of them, i.e. T/C-Rig, Jigs, Spinner Baits, Frogs, Pitching, etc.  You should be pleased as long as you don't go too light or two heavy.  Congratulation!!

Yep, was just making you double check. I was just guessing that you misspoke in reference to the power/action; we knew what you meant. I agree with Gone_ Phisin, your gonna be able to cover an array of fishing with that rod. 8-)

Here is what I do. Take you outfit and your tackle bag to your closest lake or pond that has a dock. Now tie anything you have in your bag, one at a time and see how it performs. If the rod labors then the lure is too much for it, if the lure only casts a few feet then the lure is too light for it. You will find what feels good and what just does not feel right. Do not try to figure this out while actually fishing, you will be trying to make certain things work. Once you have figured out the capabilities and range of your rod then go home and get the boat and go fishing.

I have the  6' 6'' MH model and it's the most versatil rod I own. From 5/16 -1 1/2oz baits it performs great.

I really like it for topwater, and imagine the 7' you have will be even more well rounded. From frogs,  to spinnerbaits, jigs, buzzbaits, plastics, etc. it will serve you well.

Fish it and you'll find a ton of uses for it.

This rod will cover 90% of all bass fishing.  I have several 7' MH/F combos.

To check the action: flex the tip and make note of where the rod bends. Last 1/3-1/4 = Fast 1/2 = Mod

agreed.... only get a specific rod for a specific use if that is what you plan to use that one rod for. Otherwise an unmarked rod like that, just use it for almost everything and see what it works best for.
