As many times as I have said in a few post here lately that I wanted an UL setup, everyone else said go Lor ML instead. I have decided to listen lol. Just help me out with a rod. I pretty much have decided on a St.Croix avid series but do I go with a 6'3''ML XF (lure weight 1/16 - 3/8, line weight 4 - 8) or a 6'6''L F (lure weight 1/16 - 1/4, line weight 4 - 8). It is critical for it to be 1/16 ounce capable because I throw 1/16 rooster tails. I am buying a soron STX 20 tomorrow at the spring classic to go with it. It will have 4lb yo-zuri hybrid ultra soft for the line.

If throwing the small spinner is real important, I'd go with the 6'6" light action.  I would think you could throw a 1/16th oz spinner better with the lighter action and longer length, as opposed to the 6'3" medium light action.

just curious, why were you talked out of ultralight? ul with 1/16oz spinners is a great time!

I own the AVS66MLF. That's what I recommend.

I'm guessing you already purchased the rod, but if not, I'm going to suggest the ML. I have a 6'6" Light Fast Loomis IMX that I use for crappies and sunfish, and I hooked into a 3 lb Largemouth and the rod was about maxed out. I was afraid it was going to break the rod when he took a run into the weeds. A 5 lb fish would be impossible.

I have no knowledge of the rod of which you speak, but I caught a 33 pound carp on a light action rod and 6 pound test while smallmouth fishing. A 5 pound bass would be more than doable.

Just a testimony that a light action rod is not too light.
