RottManK9 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I've never used braid before but the bait monkey made me pick some up today, along with some hooks and some frogs. Silly monkey! I'm going to be putting SpiderWire Stealth Braid 20lb (6lb dia) on a spinning reel. What backer do you suggest? What knot to connect the two? And finally what knot do you suggest to tie to the hook? Thanks in advance, Jon Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Any cheap mono will work as backing and use a uni-to-uni knot to connect the two. As far as tying the hook, I'd probably go with the mighty Palomar. It's pretty hard to beat in most situations. Quote
RottManK9 Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 I do like the Palomar knot myself. Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 The only time I don't use a Palomar for terminal tackle is when tying on a spinnerbait or chatter-type bait. For those I use the San Diego Jam knot. It's faster (for me anyway) and I don't have to pass the lure through the knot. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 28, 2010 Super User Posted February 28, 2010 I use the uni-knot for all applications except for the hook on a drop shot rig (Palomar for that). Quote
