Interesting title huh? I had to rant somewhere.

My buddy said that he would store my stuff while we were in Iraq. He came home early because of some injuries and now 5 rods and reels and all of my cranks, spinnerbaits, topwaters, soft plastics, hooks, sinkers, and even line is either worn out, lost, or used up. So now all I have left is my little plano box with brush hogs, 2 jigs, 1 crankbait, 1 popper, 1 frog, and a pack of *** (hula grubs), 1 pack of hooks, and 1 pack of 1/4 oz lead bullet weights. 1 baitcasting rod and reel is all that is left because I had it at my mother-in-law's. Other than that, gone...

So I guess before I can start fishing again, I'm going to have to get my tackle back up to normal. If y'all come across any sales on lures or terminal tackle, shoot me a PM if you don't mind.

I've got half a mind to replace all of my torn up reels with Ardent reels and start going custom with all of my rods. It'll cost a metric ton of pocket change, but I think that is my best bet. Hopefully I'll have a decent stash of tackle by spring.

Ain't,

Look on the good side.

You can now go out and replinish your tackle.

I know it can be expensive but at least you have an excuse to take the Bait Monkey with you and start all over.

That really stinks man.

Did he even ask you for permission to use your stuff?

There will be some sales popping up come spring. Just keep your eyes open and you will find some good deals.

sorry to hear about that bro, seems like some people you think you know and then they drop a hammer on you out of nowhere.  Hope you find another good fishing partner

Your "buddy" sounds like my brother. >:P Perhaps he owes you a chunk of his combat pay! I know it must have felt like you got sucker punched.

Maybe we can fix you up... What reels are they? Can they be sent to ReelMech for some TLC and a rework? If so, you box them up and mail to him and I'll pay ReelMech's bill for you.

What's wrong with the rods? Assuming he didn't lose or throw them away- if they are salvagable, I can replace some guides and make repairs.

We all have extra tackle- Why don't you make a list of things you need and I bet we can either replace or substitute much of it.

Fair enough?

When it comes to lures and baits keep it simple...

If you have lures/baits that work very well for each lake around your area, make sure to pick those up 1st...

Never buy a new lure or bait that you have never used, like most post here 1st...

Try ebay there are many great deals for NEW IN BOX items

Oh no lol

After reading your second post I have notices that my post pretty much says what you are going/planing to do...

Oh well at least I was on target

How do you ever try something new?  That doesn't sound like much fun.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I would check out Hookerz Tackle for your terminal tackle needs. The hooks are the sharpest around, and the price blows the competition away. If you could provide a list of the tackle you need, I am sure some of us may have the baits laying around, or will be willing to donate some equipment.

Brian-

Sorry to hear about all of your stuff man!  I agree with only buying the constant producers first and then expanding from there.  I feel your pain, I lost everything I had when a dealership did some shotty work on my electrical system in my boat and it caught on fire and fried everything I had!  Learned a good lesson about insurance too :'(  Hang in there and just be smart.  Another tip that helped me was to save and buy in larger amounts (not necessarily bulk but don't go and spend 20 bucks here and 20 bucks there), by buying $20 here and $20 there I always added that one lure each time to "try" and in the whole scheme of things I probably spend 100-200 bucks that I could have used on proven stuff.

Hey Brian,

I got a ton of soft plastics that I scarfed up out of the Academy $.88 bin. Actually too many. Strike King Tubes, Zoom Tubes, Trick Worms, Finesse Worms, Brush Hogs, Baby Brush Hogs and your favorite Kinami Spider Grubs. I would love to unload a bunch on you. Hopefully my  treat. Or you can pay what I payed if you would rather do that. I pay the shipping of course.

You put your butt on the line for my wife and  girls. It's the least I can do.

Please send me a message though this board with your address and I can get things going.  You would make my week!

You have got to be kidding me..... You go to Iraq to risk your life, you ex-buddy gets injured and comes home and ruins your stuff while your gone. If he was in a wheelchair I would push him down 10flights of stairs and say we are even. I know you were going to send me some jigs when you get some made but be sure to stock up for yourself before you send me some, Thats one hell of a buddy you HAD. Thats the kind of guy who you should never help again.

Man I'm glad 7magJake said it before I did!  First I'd make the guy pay for it all.  You said he could use it, not ruin it.  It's his responsibility now.

Second - time to look for new friends and assess the ones you have.  Nobody's companionship is worth being taken advantage of!

Really sorry to hear this story. You sure picked the right place to rant though. Anyone of us could relate to those circumstances. A whole lot of years ago when I was in the service, I would have said "that's what they made frag. grenades for" but now I just figure he'll get run over by his karma one day :P...

Hey Alpster,

I see why you were chosen as the first BR Elite member. Heck of an offer even if not accepted.

Brian,

Hope you are back in the fishing business soonest.  If you need anything, I'm fairly certain that there'll be someone around here offering a helping hand as you already have seen.  Let us know if you change your mind and decide to take up any of the generous offers.  And last but not least, thanks for your service to our country.
