deermaster Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I have a 6'6" St Croix with a 2500 size reel I want to use for weightless plastics, or up to 1/8oz weight, no more. I went to the store to get some braid, but all they had was this stuff called P Line Original PF. Ive never used it before. I got 8Lb. Will that work OK for what I want? Quote
birdley123 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 P Line is excellent line! You did good! Quote
basstracker721 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 P-Line makes good line. I bought the original a long time ago, and didnt care for it then. I use P-Line CX-Premium now. I love it! It is good mono. I spray it with KVD Line and Lure conditioner. AWESOME STUFF! Makes for some good, trouble free fishing. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 Also a big fan of the Cx-Premium... should be fine. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 P line is bad. Throw it away. It is thick for its size and it had alot of memory, which isn't a good thing on a spinning reel. Use it to hang pictures with. Quote
bigbass49 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I use P Line flouroclear and I have never had a problem. This is the best line I have ever used. Quote

If you're familiar with the Trilene brand, then CX is the XL of the PLine family. CXX is the XT. It is thick for its size What does that even mean? :-? Quote

Didn't I just run the freaking numbers a month or so ago, and CXX was actually thinner than Trilene XT? :-? Where do these people get their info from? : Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 I use 20# flouroclear on an 8000 series reel for offshore fishing and caught fish over a 100# with it, strong.........you bet. Quote

IwillChooseFreeWill Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Pline has a great line of lines. I myself use 8-12 lb CX or CXX fluorescent clear for most everything except when braid is needed. edit: I was out there cleaning out my tackle box and double checked my line: my spincast has 14lb spiderwire mono on it usually for low weed topwater stuff, catfish or the river, and my spinning reel has 15lb PowerPro braid. Right now the only reel using the Pline CX is my light duty 1000 spinning reel on a 6' rod, with 6lb Pline CX that I use for small bass and large bream. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted February 19, 2010 Super User Posted February 19, 2010 i like P-line in 6# for spinning rods , it does have some memory but is manageable , just change it out when it gets to bad. i use 10# and 12# for baitcasters , but am gonna try 8# here pretty soon (next time i re-spool ) should be very good since i throw alot of deep diving crankbaits and big worms(1/4-3/8 oz. bullet weight , texas rigged) so yeah , p-line cxx is some good line , just don't favor it in 15# and up . when i go 15# and up , i use Izorline XXX .... dave Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 This is the kind of question you ask BEFORE you buy, not after. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted February 20, 2010 Super User Posted February 20, 2010 Good choice? What makes fishing line a good choice? It's common knowledge that P-line produces some of the "toughest" fishing line in the world, but its memory is not in the same league as braided line. (that stuff would never find its way on my spinning reels). Roger Quote
bobbyc Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I use 15 lb. floroclear for jigging. The diameter is 0.36mm. Practically invisible, casts as far as i ever needed it to, with incredible strength. Quote
barroncooper Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I use it. It's strong but yeah it does have a lot of memory. the KVD line conditioner does help though. Quote
